I know it's almost like asking for a wonder drug but I really don't want to take Benzos anymore.. Btw, where I live you can buy many things over the counter.

Help most appreciated,

Thanks in advance. ;)

Maybe codeine? Or Vicodin if that's OTC where you live.
Yeah it is, but I really don't want to go down the Opiate route, as I've had/have serious addiction problems when it comes to Opiates/Benzos. Only last week I tried some Oxy for the first time in over 6 Months and 120mg hardly touched me. :( Regretfully in the past week I've also been dabbling in Benzos again - Temazepam at doses of around 90-180mg, also Diazepam at doses of 40mg. Although they have taken some edge off my anxiety (Which I know won't last as my tolerance will sky rocket again very soon due to previous EXTREMELY HEAVY Benzo use) they haven't really helped with the Insomnia nor really the headaches. Btw, I went down A&E before I left my home country to get the headaches/eye aches checked out but was given the all clear after extensive testing.

I'm sorry I should have mentioned about the Opiates in my original post.

Thanks for your reply. :)

I took 5-HTP for a couple months 100mg a day and it helped with every single on of those symptoms. I recently read that constant high levels of serotonin are bad for the brain and I stopped taking it.

I also heard bad things about the supplement itself.

L-Tryptophan is it? Is supposedly better.

What did you read? I'd never heard of high serotonin being bad, although I'd heard of excessive dopamine causing excitotoxicity. Is the same true for serotonin?

Pete, what country is vicodin OTC?

I made a mistake. But yes I've read that it was bad for the heart. I'm too lazy to find where I read it.

Pete, what country is vicodin OTC?
It's not strictly OTC, more like under the counter, but there is one pharmacy here in South-East Asia where I can buy it and it isn't particularly cheap. Besides, my tolerance doesn't make it suitable in any way.

PM if you need to know more. ;)

Nvm, saw your last post.

OP for insomnia I recommend antihistamines. Very mild medicines and not really any way to end up addicted to them though tolerance can build up to them.

Thanks. But in my experience, antihistamines are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to helping Insomnia.

I've tried Promethazine, Diphenhydramine, Doxylamine, Chlorpheniramine, Hydroxyzine. I know it's an anti Psychotic, but even Quetiapine doesn't do anything for me other than give me a dry mouth. I've had slight success with Mirtazapine in the past, but it's sleep inducing properties soon wore off.

Even if you can purchase drugs under the counter, you don't know if they will ease all your symptoms or you might have a bad reaction. Any of us can share what works for us but nothing can replace seeing a physician. If you did not get a satisfactory diagnosis at A&E before you moved, it would help to find a new doctor to get another opinion. I'm going to close this, pm me if you have any questions.
