If so which one and what are you doing? Do you like it? What are your future plans?

I'm 2nd year at Sydney University living off campus and studying B. Sci (Adv.) with major in chemistry & biology.
I've also got a bachelor's in commerce from Melbourne Uni. but my grades never really got above ~65 because I was pretty much a dysfunctional alcoholic, E-head and then codeine addict for it's duration. Living on campus (Newman college) was fun though.

Overall I think the social scene at Melbourne is a million times better. The unlimited free beer during Tuesday lunch-times from the union was a highlight. Having said that, lower social life has its advantages, like getting infinitely more work done. I wasn't really happy while at Melbourne Uni because I wasn't doing a subject that was enjoyable, and that sort of makes the world of difference.

Plans for the future include probably coming back to Melbourne to do a PhD in organic chemistry and drug design. Discover some new entheogen that makes you see God or something =D

I'm a second year B.Sci (Adv.) as well with majors in biochemistry & molecular biology/microbiology at UWS. I find it reasonably enjoyable bar exam season. I originally started an environmental science degree but much like your story I was incredibly dysfunctional for near identical reasons however and took time off and eventually switched courses. Not really sure of my direction at present, the original plan was to do a PhD in virology and immunology but I'm not exactly sure I'm cut out to slave the way research scientists have to their whole career any more.

I'm not physically capable of living on campus without becoming a degenerate alcoholic sucking the last dregs out of a goon bag nightly, not that I even find my uni even has a very fun social scene, so I live off campus now. Living off campus 100% helps being able to study without lots of distractions.

^^Awesome to see another B. Sci (Adv.) on here :D

Yeah I know what you mean. Some people hold it together but I was one of those one's who was so sheltered at school that once I got to college I was pretty much an animal, putting anything and everything into my mouth to get high/drunk. I have no idea how I passed the subjects I did, I even rocked up to the exams pissed out of my brain. The only club I joined was the annual college "drinking club". Even thinking of goon now makes me sick.

Luckily my school marks were sweet so was able to redeem myself and take up another degree and prove myself, with the aim of doing post-grad. work. Sydney is SO much tamer than Melbourne so studying is easier. The whole time I've been here I've met only one person who smokes up, everyone else has this ultra-conservative view towards drugs, but in Melbourne *everyone* is ripping cones and dropping acid/shrooms/e, even on the university lawn. In college we used to "hot-box" in the small dorm rooms, which means smoking so much weed that you could just sit there and get high from all the smoke that has nowhere to go. I got a $800 fine for ripping out the smoke detector from the roof, lol. The cultures are just so different. Sydney is strictly "business only".

Eg: One time in Melbourne walking through the city I wanted to get high, so I asked the next person my age who came along if they had any weed, and then and there they sold me 2g of dank. You just can't do that Sydney!!!

I was just thinking how cool it would be to follow in Leary's path and do research into psychology/neuro-biology and entheogens. There's SO much possible research into DMT and related chemicals to do, and the only real way of legally making them would be to research them and have an academic license.

i'm doing my adv. diploma in Natural Medicine (off campus, via online study), and im finding it MUCH easier than having to drag my ass into class every day. Once i've finished this 4 years, I'll be looking at maybe a masters, or a bachelor, but im finding further study hard to find (due to the fact that I can open a clinic once im finished). Even though I've only just started (a week ago?), I'm really enjoying the nutrition and mineral therapy side of the course, my main objective is to become a herbalist.
