I am good to go when it comes to my medications and every symptom is taken care of except anxiety. I've been on pregabalin for ages and worked for a period but doesn't seem to work as well anymore. I also take something as needed for severe panic. I've been on every anxiety medication known to man and some made me feel weird, doped up, or did nothing; except for benzo's, especially diazepam. This medication works so well without messing me up at all. I'm talking a low dose like 5mg 2 o 3 times a day. Then ween off of pregabalin, the panic med, and anti depressant I brought this up with one of my Doctors and they immediately shut down and changed the subject. It's like no one wants to talk about it. I think benzos are like pain pills in that if you actually NEED THEM you don't get addicted to them - your body just uses them to balance out IF you actually have said conditions. Also, I have no plan on coming off of it. That's 3 medications, I can quit (most likely) by just getting prescribed a benzo daily.
I've known to have anxiety with panic disorder from a very young age. I also have a chronic pain condition. Therefore, I have accepted the fact that I'll need a medication for pain, anxiety, and ADHD for my life. The anxiety causes depression and think if that's taken care of the depression will naturally lift.
My Doctor is the man and found out I have sleep apnea and I will start on a cpap machine soon. My hormones are all out of whack because I haven't been getting into REM sleep. Once that get's sorted, I'll see if that medication change is still needed. But anybody else have any idea how to bring up the anxiety treatment? I don't want to have to play musical chairs with SSRI's, buspar, and hydroxizine as they don't work for me. I wish they did but they don't. And if they do, they have an intollerable side effect. How do I get a Doctor to prescribe a daily low dose benzo?
I put this under Health and Recovery because I do feel like I am in recovery but trying to get on the best medications for my condictions so that I don't WHITE KNUCKLE sobriety like I do when I am not on the right medications. If you are in sobriety, but struggling.......give medications a try. The people that tell you that you're not clean if you take a medication everyday is completly full of shit. Or if you take Suboxone or Methadone. I have been on both and you stop "feeling" the medicatitons as soon as you get stable on them in about 2 days. So, no, we are not getting high off our medications, thank you very much. They just go to work and sit in the background and do their jobs: block other opiates and stop cravings. I don't think about using 98% of the time, albeit I've had a few slips. When I did slip up, I was unable to feel it so it's pointless to use when you're on maintenance therapy. Give people a break. All because you were able to kick, doesn't mean the other person on Methadone is weak. Maybe they have a family and a job to keep and they can't afford to miss a week or a month (what's really needed to kick a bad habit) of work. You don't know the person, so please don't judge them.
