Can anxiety turn into paranoia?

Like.. because of the anxiety can a person make up reasons as to why they're anxious.. and then become completely paranoid, without even knowin it? Now, i don't mean health related things like: omg im gonna have a heart attack.. i mean like.. thinking people think badly of you or are laughing at you.. that kind of thing.

Would a benzo help paranoia?

I would say be careful with benzo's. Yeah, they will help while you are on them, but if you stay on them for any length of time and in a moderate dosage, you will feel even worse for awhile afterwards. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. I get real bad anxiety, and sometimes I get kinda paranoid about what other people are thinking and about life and about this and that, yadda yadda. Anxiety sucks.

See a doctor. Tell him/her your concern.
IMO if your using then a GP is probably not the way to go.
Try an addiction specialist. JMO

Both paranoia and anxiety are mainly caused by adrenaline. Its hardwired into your body for surivival.
MANY drugs, especially ampethamines, will hijack and oversensitize your adrenal response system. Which leads to paranoia, anxiety, delusions, and all sorts of nasty shit.

The first thing you should do is step out of your body.

Examine both your body and mind as the paranoia is happening.

And ask yourself this:
Is my heart racing because I had a paranoid thought... or did I have a paranoid thought because my heart is racing?

I was the latter, as 90% of my paranoia was what drugs had done directly to my adrenal glands. Beta blockers as I've mentioned before fixed the paranoia/anxiety 100%. No longer would my heart race, and no longer did I have a reason to feel and think paranoid.

If however the roots are psychological, you need to examine what caused it. Was it drugs? Or is it genetic? And than you address it further depending on that. If you've adopted purley the mindset of a paranoid person, w/out physical symptoms always triggering it, than thats a much different scenario, and much harder to treat. But either way, a doctor can definitely help.
