I'm fairly sure I have moderate anxiety after years of being constantly worried, scared I left the oven on, having to check all the plugs in my house before I leave and even then I still worry until I get to work/school ( just a few examples).
I did a lot of reading especially people's personal stories and I can relate to so many of them. I want to go to my doctor about it but I'm afraid she will think I just want anxiety meds so I can get high... I enjoy them recreationally on occasion but I would like to have them for the times where I really need them too.
Are family doctors in Canada allowed to prescribe anti-anxiety meds or does it have to be a psychiatrist? I can't afford to see a psychiatrist and it's not covered under my plan from school or work.
If they are allowed to, are they usually reluctant in doing so?
Also, if anyone has experienced it before I'd love to know how you approached your doctor about your anxiety? I feel like they will think I want attention or something...
