Anxiety / depression from marijuana use (journal)

Hey guys I have to post this quick cuz I have school in an hour... so here is an update

I went 90 days with NO smoking, and felt great!! I still had little sparks of anxiety but nothing like it was while smoking (and this little bit of anxiety was induced by caffeine, which I have now almost completely eliminated.) I did slip up about a week ago and smoke a j with a classmate and instantly the anxiety was at me like an old friend who I hadn't seen in a while, albeit an unwelcome one. Now I have the slowness, semi-daze, not all the way there-type feeling that goes along with mj, but I can say that if you quit for a while (especially after one month) you will feel much, MUCH better! I am of course working on my issues psychologically and developing strategies to not depend on mj or any drug for that matter, and trying to purify my body, mind, and soul. I also want to start meditating and have taken up kickboxing again (a very very good workout.) That's all I have time for now, I had a much longer post I wrote on my iPad at starbucks but for some reason it logged me out before I could post it and it erased the entire message :/ So I will give another update as things progress but hang in there guys and take care of yourselves!!! You don't need some external bs to be happy, just do the best with what you can and take care of those you love and even people you don't know yet :D

Stay well friends

If your not smoking constantly I.e multiple times a day you'll get the anxiety mentioned. Happens to me if I don't smoke enough n then get real toned lol

Hi Willy! It's cool how our hobbies enrich our lives when we remove the chemical that was fucking us up. I tried to quit weed and was not able to.

Hey folks, how are things going? This post has really resonated with me. I've been having similar problems for the last year and a half after smoking weed for a couple of years and doing other recreational drugs. I stopped smoking weed a year ago but alcohol gives me the same icky feelings. Eased of that now as well and waiting for my usual self to return. This post is giving me hope. Hope you're still well on the way Slick! Interested in any updates.. Peace.

Thanks everyone for your replies... naeverick glad to hear you have healed up a bit after quitting smoking and alcohol, and everyone else good luck to you. I started a new thread, after I posted this one. I ended up giving up pretty much every vice I have (weed, pills, porn, caffeine) and am just trying to get my brain to reset and rewire itself to allow more growth instead of just craving substances and unhealthy habits all the time.

If you are interested in reading it, the new post is here:

Sorry moderators for double posting, you can close this one if you like, but as always good luck to everyone and be kind to your brothers and sisters!

Cannabis is really an awesome mind altering substance with a very safe profile but is contraindicated in a couple situations, one being in anxiety prone individuals.

I'm not too sure about this blanket statement. It CAN exacerbate anxiety in anxiety-prone individuals, just like it CAN reduce or eliminate anxiety in anxiety-prone individuals, of which it does for me. I'm not saying you're just out-and-out wrong -- hell, my wife rarely smokes anymore for that reason you gave -- but it's definitely not cut and dry.
