I have a supply of quetiapine that I stopped taking for fear of compromising my physical health (diabetes risk etc). I was wondering if I could take it to help with an issue I have with rage. The smallest things piss me off so badly that I swear out loud and do things like pull on my hair. I can control my behavior (I don't have a go at anyone for example) but the irritability is still there.

If so what dose should I take? I was thinking of taking the quetiapine and just doing things like exercising or eating well to maintain good health.

quetiapine at low dose put the pounds on me like crazy . I was prescribed it for a 'safe' sleep aid.

My dad's psych put him on Depakote ER in the day and Trazodone at night for his rage issues. It really mellowed him out and kept him from beating the fuck out of homeless assholes, but he complained of feeling drugged and lazy all the time. And it also made him gain mad weight on his stomach. So I'm not sure how you'd feel about those side effects... probably not good.

Trazadone is not an anti-psychotic. Personally anti-psychotics made me very irritable and I'm already an angry person.

A professor of psychiatry (one of the best in the UK) might be putting me on Clopixol (a very small dose of 100mg). This depot injection lasts a month which is convenient as I wouldn't have to remember to take pills. I might however have to take an anticholinergic to combat extrapyramdal side effects (EPS) such as orphenadrine (which can induce feelings of euphoria in some people, interestingly).

Although it isn't available by prescription, there is a compound called Eltoprazine (Serotonin receptor agonist I believe) that was found to have clinical utility in rage and anger states, in fact, I believe it was classified as the first of its class, the " serenics ". As far available medication, Seroquel (Quetiapine) would be my pick, although as someone mentioned earlier, Depakote is much more specific as a mood stabilizer (I have a relative who is prescribed it).

very low doses of seroquel, only thing is when i was on it my tolerance went up pretty quickly.
ended up taking 200mg seroquel a day, not even for psychotic or bipolar disorders.

damn I do that. but everyones just tellin' me i'm depressed. but the smallest thing can make me beat the shit out of myself

good luck hope it works

i just got prescribed the lowest dose of seroquel 25mg by my suboxone doc for anxiety because she wont prescribe benzos. Will it make me fat by itself(slows down metabolism?) or do you just get fat cause you eat a lot on it? God its so stupid I know that 1-2mg of xanax or klonopin taken as needed(every other day usually) does wonders for my anxiety and I was prescribed clonazepam in the past and stopped taking it after 2 months that was 3 years ago I dont really like benzos its obvious I'm not just trying to get them to abuse them, but nooooo she has to prescribe a fucked up drug with horrible side effects because shes probably getting paid for every person she scripts them to. sorry for the rant I just wanted to know a little about the side effects and didnt want to make a whole new thread.

I can't do quetiapine, it made me gain weight real fast (then again I do have a thyroid problem so I have low metabolism as is). For my rage, I just take a really low benzo dose. Mirtazapine didn't work for me either.
