I was taking Prozac prescribed by my... what's the word... Psychiatrist/Doctor? Anyway, I took it for a week and it made me feel even worse than I already did, all week I wouldn't get up out of bed, and I took my knife and slit my wrists. Then I took apart a pencil sharpener for the razor blades and kept doing it. After a week of extreme depression and cutting every day, I stopped taking my pills because I lost them and I could finally get out of bed and eat and drink regularly without sobbing. I stopped taking my medicine altogether even after I found it, and when I found it I threw it away. i have not talked to my phsyciatrist yet, but i'm still cutting.
I wondered if anyone could explain why the Prozac did that to me. And any way to stop cutting, too. I'm having a lot of trouble getting through this.

Prozac, and other SSRI's, are known to make you feel worse for the first two weeks of treatment before they have a proper effect on you. They are also known to increase the risk of suicide in under 18's and are not recommended anymore.

I would make an appointment to see your doctor and see if another medication might work better for you.

Take care.

it happened to me as well, i agree that you should try a different SSRI, and try find some other release which doesn't involve cutting yourself (watch a tv show, jack off, go for a run/walk, make a meal, get outside)
