Antidepressant (Venlafaxine) and drugs (cannabis, dxm, E...)

Hey BL, next week i'm going to start a venlafaxine AD treament, i've pushed it back a bit to make sure of what interactions are potentially dangerous : i smoke quite a lot of weed, dxm every now and then (a bit too weekly imo, gonna cut back), and only on special occasions am i rolling, and maybe sometimes speed (adderall) or caffeine to boost me up a little bit.

Is there anything i can still do while on these ADs with no harmful interactions (or seretonine syndrome, etc..) ?

Anythingt serotonergic is bad news. This includes MDMA, DXM, many psychedelics, a few opioids (tramadol, pethidine/meperedine and fentanyl for example) and various other drugs - if in doubt, look into whether it has serotonergic activity or not (or look up an online interactions checker although many don't include recreational drugs). If the drug is serotonergic then there is a risk of serotonin syndrome so you really shouldn't take them together.

If you skip a dose or two to try to get effects from MDMA etc you may well find that the effects are significantly diminished as venlafaxine causes downregulation of your serotonin receptors (so there are less available to release serotonin) - also you can get unpleasant side effects when you stop venlafaxine abruptly so I would not recommend doing this.

Amphetamine suphate (Adderall) has minimal serotonergic activity so should be okay although both venlafaxine and Adderall affect noradrenaline so you might find you become over-stimulated.

Weed should be okay! Caffeine makes me feel really jittery (venlafaxine is quite stimulating in itself) but others are okay with it so see how you go.

Oh that's good news if venlafaxine is stimulating in itself, just what i needed. And besides ganja may sometimes give you a buzz with serotonin perhaps... depends on the person i guess
