Hi, I wanted to know people's personal experiences with a few different antidepressants..

I have tried paxil 50mg, am currently on Prozac 40mg, zoloft 20mg (zoloft made me very sick, i was not on it more than a week), and am on Wellbutrin XL 300mg.

Out of these drugs, the only truly noticeable effects were from Wellbutrin, which I began to feel around 2 weeks after being on 300mg. My family has noticed changes in whilst on prozac, so I continue on it, and I know that from the perspective of the patient it can be hard to recognize the long term effects of the drug. But for people on these drugs or similar, have any of you seen a noticeable change? Over weeks, months, years, etc..

I am contemplating talking to my psychiatrist about switiching.. but I am hesitant, because again, I haven't felt any noticeable changes.. I've been on it about a year.

It's sad to have to depend on that shit do not be depressed. You should try to get off them ASAP, therapists like to make your problem seem worse than it actually is.

I have tried pretty much every AD out there an for me the only one that helps at all is remeron. Zoloft messed with my sex life Paxil made me hallucinate and the rest just seemed kike a sugar pill. Although I have yet to try Wellbutrin I think I'm gonna stick to what works for now

I have tried celexa, effexor, zoloft, wellbutrin, and an anti-psychotic that some stupid psyciatrists prescribe for depression seroquel. The first 3 completely made it impossible for me to ejaculate while having sex which was very frustrating and i didn't notice a change in my depression.

Welbutrin did not have any sexual side effects and although i did not notice a change in depression, i did lose the desire to smoke cigarettes. If you said those are working for you and noticed a difference then stay on them until you feel the need to taper off of them.

If I was to try an anti-depressant again i would try something like cymbalta or topimax both different then SSRI's which apparently do not work for me.

I just googled it and it said Mirtazapine (Remeron, Avanza, Zispin) is a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA). So no it is not an ssri, i forgot to mention i've tried that too but only when hospitalized for 7 days and i think that i was feeling a little difference and might consider that as an option since i totally forgot i shortly tried it. I remember getting a good nights rest, and it says it's also an anixylotic (anxiety relieving), hypnotic (sleep) and an appetite stimulant (not good but most medications are). Hmm the fact that i also have anxiety and am prescribed medicine for that, makes me more willing to try remeron since it also has anxiety relief properties which SSRI's don't, hmm well if once i'm done with the seroquel in the next few weeks, i will tell my psychiatrist about remeron IF my depression somehow returns. It seems good and effective, and is a popular choice in hospitals/mental facilities.
