Yes, tranquilizers/sedatives/anxiolytics make weed-induced anxiety go down. In general, they reduce anxiety when taken, whether it's from pot, situational anxiety, generalized anxiety, whatever. The OP is looking for a long-term solution and, it seems, pot+benzo's isn't the right path. I think anyone who's smoking pot will find benzo's useful - but most anyone who's find benzo's useful at a point knows how damaging they can be to your anxiety levels.(EDIT- not while on a proper dosage, but that's the problem - it's just a temporary anxiety-fix, it does stop working, whether through tolerance or having to stop taking the pills, at which point anxiety is typically seen, subjectively, as worse than before the 1st dose. IME, of course, but it seems to be a commonly-enough held view)
