I know there's a million threads like this but I need some advice so apologies :(

Did a CWE last night and as far as I know it went okay, was only slightly cloudy (no more-so than usual) and had huge amounts of stuff in the filter. As I always CWE with APAP/codeine, I usually take 5 Nurofen plus with my CWE to get an extra 64mg codeine as APAP + Ibuprofen is safe, right? Only I did the same the night before too. So over the space of two days I've had 2000mg Ibuprofen and whatever apap was left in the water with the codeine. Now I've got stomach and abdominal pain (on a scale of 1-10 it's about a 6/7) and feel quite nauseous.

I'm guessing this is from the Ibuprofen, but I really don't want an ulcer or something so I'm holding out hope it's food poisoning or something. Reckon I need to go to the hospital or should I be okay? I know it's always better to be safe than sorry, but I have a LOT of work to do and I'll be in the hospital all day no doubt :(

Edit: Oh and also, can you recommend anything for the pain? As I don't really want to take any more APAP/Ibuprofen. I have a little weed but it's scarce so I'd rather save it, and like I said... need to get work done not get high :P

Hm, I have heard that up to 2400/mg of ibuprofen a day is safe. When I have a fever or pains and don't want to use narcotics, I take 400mg of ibuprofen, 3-4 times daily. This adds up to more then what you took, and I do this for days on end. Also, I eat around 2000-3000mg of APAP on these days. And as for the tylenol, I'm sure that it wasn't a ridiculous amount that got through, so you should be safe there.

Just thought I would put in my two cents. It doesn't seem like these are the factor. Maybe it was how you have been eating, or some other factor. I would smoke some weed, as it helps me immensely with stomach pains and nausea.

Just wanted to add that sometimes I get abdominal pains the day after codeine use, sometimes related to constipation or eating too much and not getting it out.

I don't know about any interactions between ibuprofen and what you're taking, but standing alone you can take quite a bit more ibuprofen than is recommended over the counter. I have a sacroiliac joint problem, and when it flares up and won't resolve on its own I've been put on 2400 to 3200 milligrams of ibuprofen daily, the first time for over six weeks, and each time thereafter for one to two weeks (which is all it takes to resolve it if I start quickly). I've had three doctors tell me the 2400 milligram daily dosage for several weeks is a pretty common thing for a lot of people in a lot of situations. No one has ever even batted an eye.

Stomach is absolutely killing me again today. Lower abdomen pain has gone but man... OWWW! :(

It is definitely the ibuprofin causing the stomach pain, you probably just aren't tolerating it well. Despite 2400mg being the "maximum" daily dose (which is just crazy in and of itself) many people get side effects at much lower dose. Give your stomach time to heal and don't take any other NSAIDS in the meantime like Aleve (naproxen) or Aspirin.

i can't imagine you have never taken ibuprofen in the past, but if you are one of the scarce individuals who haven't, it could be an allergic reaction to it. but, since i highly doubt that scenario- i'm gunna go ahead and say it isn't the ibuprofen.

if you did your CWE correctly, it isn't the apap either.

can you recall the last time you took a good poop? that could be it, especially if you are an frequent opiate user. a lot of people get stomach cramps and just general abdominal pain from being irregular, even if they don't particularly "feel" constipated or any other symptoms related. so, thinking back on it, if it has indeed been a few days- you will want to get that taken care of asap!

if not, have you eaten anything new in the past day or so? this could also be it if you had. or if you ate something that was past date or had gone bad and you just didn't catch it.

regardless of the reason, my advice would be to drink some water/other fluids and get hydrated. perhaps have some fruit as well. these are both great for pretty much any ailment in my opinion.

hope you feel better soon! :)

Thanks man, I had a pretty good one earlier today but I haven't been regular. These are a weird sort of stomach cramp, there's really loud gurgling coming from my stomach when they do happen. I probably should have mentioned this in the original post but I had these exact same symptoms a few weeks back after taking large amounts of ibuprofen (I have taken it before without problems - it's when I exceed 1000mg I get trouble, or so it would seem). When it didn't sort itself after 4 days I went to the doctor (didn't tell him about the ibuprofen) and he suggested 2mg loperamide everytime I get the pains... and it worked! I haven't had chance to get any loperamide this time, but I don't quite understand how it worked :/ Unless it was just a placebo effect I don't know. But either way it's pretty likely it's the Ibuprofen considering this has happened twice now. The pain seems to be going again. Sorry my posts are so poorly structured and I miss things, my brain is just shit. I don't even have years of drug use to blame, I just have a dead shit brain. I'm going to bed!
