Benzos Another question about Xanax withdrawals.

Why is there so little information on the internet about it I don't get it.

That's not my question by the way. Just a quick question: I only have two pills left until I see my addiction specialist on Thursday... at which point he may or may not give me more, depending on how he feels about the fact that I ran out early when I see him in person. Really, I'm just wondering if I take like one pill a day until then (.5 mg), that will be enough to like... not have a seizure? I am never on a consistent dose so I couldn't tell you how much I take a day, sometimes it's more and sometimes it's less... really it depends on how bad my anxiety is. But for about the past week, I haven't taken more than maybe... idk. 3 mg per day? Maybe 3 and a half? It doesn't seem like a huge dose to me, but I don't know shit about Xanax withdrawals. I've been on it for about a year now.

I'm also out of Suboxone as of today, and the half of the film strip (actually it was more like a quarter) was nothing. It was left over from what I took the day before, so I woke up to it being all stretchy and weird and I think a lot of the potency... melted off... or something. Idk. I just know that's the one reason why Sub films suck so much. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything, but yeah.

I'm expecting to feel like shit tomorrow, and even more on Thursday, of course... but my main question is whether or not I need to worry about having a seizure or not if I have two pills left.

Thanks :)

I don't mean to scare you man but if you Infact have been taking 3 mg+ a day that's a moderately sized dose. Seizure is definately possible, so if you start feeling weird deja vu' or shaky/twitchy i'd see myself to the ER no matter the circumstances.

I'm a recovering benzo addict, took 3 mgs of klonopin a day for somewhere around 8-10 months. I jumped off cold turkey and though i didn't seize i had some gnarly violent twitches, it can be quite scary.

Take care man i hope all goes well for you sorry i can't advise you on further dosing i'd be scared to give you a concrete dose, cause i don't know what works for you. Or even what would keep you from seizing if you were in that situation.

Hey thanks for the reply, I was able to get a hold of four bars, so that will definitely be enough to hold me over until I can get my script! I'll be alright. But I need to talk to my doc about this... I want to get off of this toxic shit ASAP.

Good to know that 3 mg isn't as small of a dose as I thought... and that the violent twitches can be a precursor to having a seizure.. I've definitely experienced those and no, they definitely ARE NOT fun at all. They're freaking scary, in fact. Especially because they started happening after only a day of not taking it. Good thing it's never been longer than that... but yeah ugh I need to start tapering faster or something. I was able to find a website that was basically dedicated to xanax withdrawals... scared the shit out of me... soo many people on there talking about how they started hallucinating/having seizures/almost died/were just completely in their own world for up to months at a time. Not cool. :(

Since i quit taking the kpins if i binge for even a short period of time(1 week or more) on xanax or klonopin etc. I get those crazy twitches when i am falling asleep real bad, and yeah i've had weird hallucinations too like shadows of depictable scary images that were on my ceiling as i lay in bed. It was pretty scary but i was able to recover, though i was broken the next few days..
I only used smallish doses too like .5 of xanax 1 mg of of kpin when i had that anxious feeling in my stomach I take opiates too and w/d from them but it doesn't compare to benzo withdrawal.
I have some advice-

If you already have bad anxiety or panic attacks/shakes try to get off that shit like you mentioned above. A fast taper may not be ideal and could possibly make you suffer w/d.
It is very serious and can be fatal unfortunately like a few other Drugs that work on GABA.

Yeah I'm doing a slow taper! My doc says it's okay to go down by half a mg. per week. My only problem is that I actually NEED them since I have GAD... my anxiety just comes out of no where, and often. So I just keep popping Xanax to get rid of it.

He prescribed me Lexapro, which takes a few weeks to kick it, but I'm hoping it will work. I've already been prescribed Vistaril and Buspirone, but those anxiolytics don't work for me for some reason! Hopefully this one will, cause I definitely DON'T want to be dependent on xanax for the rest of my life... if opiates are the devil's sidekick, benzos are the devil himself! For real.

Yeah, keep it up xb. You'll probably have rebound anxiety while you taper, but once you get through it you'll improve beyond what you ever experienced while being on the benzos (well, maybe except for the honeymoon phase, but that was pretty fleeting, huh?)

well if you can ask your Dr. about switching to Valium to get off once you reach low dose levels of Xanax. while tapering too go very slow and small so that your body and mind get used to lower levels of the drug. Im still tapering off my benzo but im going at 0.125mg every 3-5 weeks, thats a quarter of a 0.5mg tablet. might sound too slow but i read up the slower and longer the less worse the withdrawal.

Yeah, it's definitely true. 0.125mg every 3-5 weeks may be a bit extreme, though... Even clonazepam will have gone many half-lifes between 3-5 week doses. I have tapered clonazepam myself and was down to 0.125mg every five days at the longest, and I had experienced most of the withdrawal by that point. Go however slow you want though; it's definitely good to go slow.
