(another) question about restoring the magic

I posted a thread a few weeks ago asking if there was any possibility of getting your magic back after losing it, and I found this comment on erowid.org that I feel is a really good explanation of how and why someone 'loses the magic.'

"How about this as a hypothesis: The magic of MDMA is not merely in the pharmacological effects, but also the fact that those effects place you in a mental state which is so different that the normal anxieties, thoughts, and other "bummers" don't apply. Using MDMA often enough, however, allows 1) the mind to build up a larger and larger cognitive map from memories encoded during MDMA experiences, and 2) a smearing together of the MDMA and non-MDMA states due to experiences, triggers, etc. common to both. Eventually, the MDMA state is familiar, which not only removes some of the "wow" component, but perhaps more importantly it means that the mind no longer partitions between MDMA and non-MDMA states. The state-dependency of emotions, information, etc. has been lost."

Now my question is, according to how this person puts it, do you think that after a long abstinence period, that the brain will start to partition between the MDMA states and non-MDMA states again? And restore the wow factor? Or do you think that once the brain has built that cognitive map that you will always have it?

I know that no one will really know, but I would like some opinions from someone who may know what they're talking about.

Thanks again! Black Panther <3

you never forget how to ride a bike -- however this is the memory of a process and a routine. Memories and emotions can be forgotten. While the conceptual idea of rolling may remain intact (maybe a bit faded) in your memory, I doubt that this clear memory will be left behind -- if loss of magic is "getting used" to the MDMA high to begin with.

I've thought before that no roll could ever compare to my first or second, but then again, now that I hardly ever roll (maybe 3 times a year max) it's pretty damn magical each time. Over time, yes, I do believe the brain replenishes itself and the 'wow' factor is restored. But if you've been overusing ecstasy a lot, it's going to take much more time for it to happen.

Nice thought process.

Because I've become more familiar with the MDMA state, I've happily found that I will sometimes briefly re-experience it when feeling really euphoric, especially after intense exercise combined with alchohol (shortly after the working out).

if i have to pee reeaaally bad, especially if ive been drinking energy drinks, i feel like i roll for 5 seconds right when i start peeing

Yeah, I think almost everyone who rolls gets the fleeting 5 second rolling-like feeling. I usually feel it when exercising or listening to really good EDM music.

I act like I'm rolling instinctivly (and it feels quite natural) when I'm out at an EDM club dancing. I'll watch light shows...the whole thing. I feel like I'm rolling a bit when I'm wired, when I'm drinking...I'm sure if I tried any other drug, I'd think I was rolling a little bit. I see it as a bonus ;)

How about exercising AND listening to really good EDM music! I swear I've almost fallen off the elliptical machine!
