Another Immodium thread for heroin WDs...

I did some independent research with Immodium in order to combat heroin WDs. I have to say that it does in fact work, but you have to take about 20 Immodium tablets. However, they are small and easy to swallow. Theoretically, one could probably swallow about 20 at the same time.

In any case, I am on day 6 of not taking H and I feel pretty good right now. Usually, the worst part of WDs for me is the hot/cold flashes. That is the most unbearable part for me personally, but it seemed like Immodium helped to control that also (along with bowel movements obviously).

Overall, I just want to say from a person that is pretty well-versed in the world of drug use (especially opiates), I would not discount use of Immodium as an effective means of going through WDs. My WDs were relatively mild compared to what they would have been in my approximation without Immodium. I highly recommend it for anybody that is suffering the demons of WDs but does not have access to other comfort medications (such as Suboxone or Methadone, which I personally detest because it does nothing more than prolong the process).

Yes it helps with body aches, and the poops, L-tyrosine for energy and depression and benzos for sleep, still sucks but makes it suck less. No it does not cross BBB, and yes in high doses will cause alot of problems starting with but not limited to Paralytic Ileus. Im glad it helps you too. Opiate withdrawals are hell. Just dont go overboard with your dose, ive read so many threads about massive doses causing "highs"....PLACEBO. But for some reason that I cant explain during withdrawals it helps. After the physical withdrawals stop taking it, it does nothing for PAWS...thats another thread for another day. Best Wishes. I am glad you found some relief,

Thanks, and yes, I did take relatively high doses for two days. I am currently on Day 7 without using any opiates and my body is almost 100% feeling normal again. I mean, relative to how I was feeling on Day 1, I suppose. I have been down this road before and have had a few years without using any drugs whatsoever (including alcohol) and my mind and body has felt great. This is my second time at trying to rid myself of drugs and alcohol again. I heard that Immodium was helpful in high doses, which I did take in high doses.

I did not feel any sense of euphoria or high whatsoever but like I said, it did partially take away my WDs. Some people say that Immodium "completely" took away their WDs. I am not going to discount what anybody else said because I was also skeptical at first about Immodium doing anything for me in this regard, but after trying what others have suggested, I found that Immodium did help tremendously. I would not say that it "completely" took away my WDs. I still suffered from some minor things like hot/cold flashes and I am still somewhat achy, but this is cake compared to what it could have been.

Have you tried L-tyrosine as well, helped the depression/energy part of withdrawals greatly for me. You can get it at pharmacy or GNC 500-1,000mgs taken 2-3 times a day, its not that expensive, they also put alot of it in 5 hour energy. It is a precurser to L-Dopa which is a precurser to Dopamine and then norepinehphrine. At the minimum it will help your depleted dopamine levels

For energy, I have been using coffee and Vitamin B-6. I will have to try L-Tyrosine, I actually think I have some here at the house. I have also been drinking a lot of cranberry juice, I used it when I quit smoking cigarettes and I found that it was good for detoxing and getting the crap out of my body.

I have finally got to the point where I feel like I could be somewhat physical again so I took a walk and did some running today also. That helps tremendously too.

Overall, I implore anybody that is suffering from addiction to opiates to realize that there are natural remedies that will help a person kick and make it so it is not completely unbearable. Some other stuff I found helpful was antihistamines for the runny nose issues that often arise, Advil for body aches, melatonin for sleep, and St. John's Wort for anxiety/depression. Most of all though, I think at least any semblance of a positive attitude about what you are doing will carry anybody through. If the person is dead set on being done with the opiates, I'm confident they can quit for a long time, if not forever.
