I'm sure threads like these pop up every day but I haven't been on the boards in quite a while, and haven't been on the drugs in even longer. I had a short heroin/oxy binge and am curious if anyone has been in a similar situation and can give some info. regarding what to expect, withdrawal wise. I've only been using for about 10 days, but I've been addicted in the past, so I know my body is more susceptible to the physical withdrawal symptoms than an infrequent user.
I went through about 3 grams of heroin, and about 120 mg's of oxy over the course of about 10 days...the majority being about 1.5 grams and 60 mg's in the last 2 days....I hope I'm just psyching myself out, expecting to have to endure withdrawals, but I'm preparing for the worst. I do have an 8mg suboxone at my disposal, so i might use that to taper down...anyone been in a similar situation?

My opinion is that 10 days' use is not even nearly enough to produce bad withdrawals, although, admittedly it will be worse for you than it would be for someone who was totally opiate-naive.

I also think that using the bupe to counter the anxiety and nausea you may feel will only extend and worsen your withdrawals.

What I think you'll feel is weak, depressed, uninterested. If you have work or school suboxone might be helpful in getting through because it will be tougher than normal.

Physical symptoms will be mild.

Use suboxone very sparingly, crumbles instead of mgs. It's very strong. You don't need much to counter the effects.

Better than suboxone would be to use non opiate, symptomatic meds. Like clonidine.

Correct, 10 days will give you some mild issues. You won't get the shits or cramps, or any of that stuff that is bad. You won't feel great though, you will be depressed etc. You can do it though.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the reason why I felt like I'm different than the typical person is that I've had runs of addiction in the past, like a year on heroin, a few months of Oxy, etc. and I've heard that people who have been addicted before are more likely to feel physical withdrawal symptoms after a short binge, more so than someone who has never been addicted before.

Personally I think you're gonna feel it to a moderate degree. My guess is that you'll get runny nose, maybe some shits and generally feel pretty crap. Oh, and ache a bit too. Just don't use this to go back and 'cure' with more gear - I'm sure you're well aware of where that's gonna lead.

All the best man, if you can keep smack runs to less than a week or so you've got the best of both worlds.

Well the only reason I can keep them so short is my job...I can't risk my career, and doing it during my time off is my only option. I can't seem to take days off, though, and always stretch it to the last possible moment...that, I need to get under control.
I was able to abstain from getting more stuff...however I did acquire a small dose of methadone...about 25 mg's...I know that was in a way just going to prolong the process (of detoxing) but it's hard to say no when it's right in front of you. So, that was two days ago, (41 hours ago to be exact) and I'm feeling fine...and I'm wondering, am I just not in withdrawal yet, because of methadone's long half life? Or am I just not going to withdrawal, since my binge was so short, and doses fairly low? I have one 8mg suboxone, and was planning on taking once I was in withdrawal, but wanted to wait at least 36 hours after taking the done. Now I'm wondering if I will even need to take it...

well i got to about 43 hours from taking the methadone til i convinced myself that I was feeling at least some degree of withdrawal, and decided to break out the suboxone. I shaved off a little bit of the pill, no more than .3-.5 mg, and did it about 5 hours ago, and feel fine. I'm wondering if, feeling fine on that small of a dose, I'd be fine to just not do any more at all...sorry to bump my own topic here but I just wanted to give an update, and hopefully someone who's been through a similar situation comes across this.

Heh, everyone here. You expect an easy way out, the easiest you will have, is to do NOTHING MORE. The sub will cover your w/d for a couple of days, and you just gotta tough it out a bit. You can do it, but you won't if you keep doing dope.
