ummmm get over it! its a forum!! there are so many ppl on here that write and chat etc that its bound to go off topic once and awhile geez!! keep it all keep it all!!

oh and i voted 4 the last one...i was gonna vote for no 1 but there seem to be alot of ppl wining about a forum (shock horror) going off topic...and who is anyone to delete what someone said unless its offensive to the majority or something?

It is not a "forum" it is a thread.

It does not go off topic once in a while it happens everyday

The purpose of Bluelight is Harm Reduction NOT inane social chatter

We are lucky we have a social forum; we have received complaints about the singles thread we want to know how to make it better for you. 6 days left on this friggin poll and I wish I’d never started it.

We’ve spent forever saying ”well if you don’t like it don’t open it” now, finally we’re asking for your opinion and seriously I am so disappointed at most of you. Christ for once you're given a say in how things are going to be run in this forum and all you can do is whinge that change is going happen.

Social is stagnating; possible great threads are getting lost within the singles thread, which half of social doesn't open. We're giving you an option to try and get what you want out of this forum

As from now posts that are from people who haven't participated yet don't vote for "kill it" will be taken into consideration.

When you post something constructive, I'll be willing to listen.8)

Do you understand the meaning of the words power trip? Look it up in the dictionary, power tripping does not include giving people choice. You obviously have no idea how much hard work and time goes into making Bluelight the place it is, you also have no idea that for every time a decision is made by the mods we get questioned by users who have no idea of the process of decision making and haven't ever read the user agreement or forum guidelines. I suggest you do so, then actually take the time to read the content of each post in this thread and take the time to think about your response. Do you want to have a say in how this place is run or would you rather we make the decisions and say oh well we decided, you deal with it?

ur current rant appears contrary to what u claim.

it is precisely ur current course of action that kitty has decided to put a poll requesting for suggestions regarding the singles thread: so the thread, (or a poll) doesnt get derailed by off topic posts such as the ones u're currently guilty of.

i have said it many times but it seems like clicking on the reply button is much easier than actually taking the time and thoughts to word a proper email.

if anyone, that's including u, doofqueen, have a problem with any mods, please (and i say please when i can just as easily delete all off-topic posts till the user gets the idea) email the mod in question, or any of the other mods. if a user cannot even take the time to write an email, then i would assume that the problem the user has is not deemed worthy of the time and attention to begin with.

if a dialogue with a mod does not reach a satisfactory resolution, then i suggest the user email an admin to discuss the problem.

i would now like to draw ur attention to the emphasis on the word email.

email

repeat that a few times so the word rolls comfortably off ur tongue and leaves a lasting impression on ur mind, which i suspect wouldnt be difficult.

that is all.

The singles thread, in all it's glory, contains 3744 posts. 3744 posts. Three Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fourty Four posts.

Regardless of quality of post, if it hasn't been said in 3744 posts, then it's not worth saying at all. Sure, there are a few topics within that thread which are quite interesting but I'm afraid they're buried under countless useless posts of no value.

For these topics to be given their justice, they should be split out of the singles thread and discussed in their own threads. Its simply impossible to follow any discussion which stretches for 149 pages.

The single thread has done it's dash. It was funny and refreshing for a while, but now it's just a pit of frustration, sexual innuedno and self pity. Lets give some of the more interesting issues in that thread a chance to do their own thing and not be swallowed by that behemoth.

Vote kill!

IMO I'm really not fussed whether it goes or not.

Even though I'm not single I'll still read through it for the offchance that there might be some intresting discussion in there.

So for that reason I've voted for option 4.

However I do think that 1 or 2 people that post in the singles thread should stop making 5-10 posts a day, it detracts from the worthwhile posts in there.

Maybe everything has already been said for nezo (or even me), but new people register each day and it is a new experience to them. If a couple of people decide to stop posting in the singles thread, there are five more ready to take their place. And if some folks posted on page 1 and are still posting on page 1000, more power to them!

Sometimes I deliberately posted something interesting in the singles thread just so it would get buried! Maybe some people merely like writing down all their random thoughts on a single flow and then hitting submit! If I start a new thread, that means I am obligated to come back and read what people say to me. Maybe I didn't want advice, maybe I just wanted to say some stuff or ask a question....if people ignored it, fine!

To me the singles thread is just a cafeteria full of different conversations happening at the same time....you know, sometimes that is what I wanted. Some anonymity where I could come back a week later and not miss anything significant. And I don't begrudge anyone anything, some people used the thread as a pity party and others used it to garner some attention for themselves. It was all good. I always make myself "write" 1000+ words a day, so sometimes I used my posts in the singles thread (and elsewhere at Bluelight, if anyone remembers those movie reviews I used to do) just to meet my daily quota.

In my humble opinion (and I speak only as a poster on this topic), it would be great if the moderators would only edit out vicious attacks or invasions of privacy. I think most of my replies were in versions 12-18 or so, so just weigh my comments for however much they are worth.

the singles thread should stay as it is.

its a good outlet for all the frustrations and excitement single life can hold. even though it can become a bit wingey, i think that's part of what its all about. its saved me a few times, just to dump my mind and even if nobody reads it, its still good to get the thoughts out.

if you don't like it, don't read it. its not fair to make executive decisions to stop people expressing themselves, IMHO.

Cohaa.

Did you read ANY of the posts in this thread?

Just a note

If the votes are as consistant throught the week as they are now I may create a new poll with options 1 and 3 as the only choices. Honestly If I were to take a step back and make this again I'd make it without the "Kill It" option.

I know pretty much who has voted where and I'm quite surprised at who has actually voted for kill it. The most constructive votes have come from users who would like to be able to participate in the discussion but don't because of all the crap that surrounds it. As you can imagine as a result of this poll I've recieved some extremely interesting (and constructive) emails and PM's.

*sigh* we'll see

I actually wish to change my vote, is this possible? After more consideration, I'd definately like to change it.

nah it's not possible, but like i said in my last post I think i might start another poll. In fact I'll do it tomorrow night, let it run for a week. That way when I get back everyone would have voted (yes guys you get a whole week without me pretty much).

I won't be merging the threads next time, either. People so very obvoiusly don't bother reading before pressing clicking reply that any actual discussion about why we're trying to do this will get lost.

Ok so I'll keep all options bar kill it. Any other suggestions? There's about 24hours til I'll re-create the poll and I'll take any suggestions from here on in under consideration.

Because it really isn't a viable option, and i know who chose it and who actually participated in the thread at any stage...

Closing! new final poll up soon.
