The Enhancer
Bluelighter
This poem is about my girlfriend and how I feel. I've only known her for about five or six months and we have been together for much less. This is about the twenty four hours that really brought us together. And I find it funny, because I really wasn't looking for her. In fact her timing could not be worse, and yet, this is how I feel.
Almost 24 Hours
The first time our lips met my soul danced,
Not to the beat of the music that was so loud,
That we practically had to yell at each other,
Calling it a conversation,
It was as if a chorus of angels had revealed themselves to me,
Delicately ushering me forward,
For reasons I’ll never understand.
That night while we spoke,
I felt something – real,
That didn’t need to be explained,
And yet I searched for the answer,
Only to realize that it didn’t matter,
Nothing mattered,
As long as you stayed in my arms,
That we continued to talk,
That we danced,
If only for the rest of the moments of that night.
That night turned to day,
And our conversation continued,
Barely above a whisper at points,
It was in the eyes,
The way that we looked at each other,
That something was revealed to me,
A world that I had for so long abandoned,
Pretending as if it didn’t matter,
And I took a deep breath.
Side by side,
Touching each other,
With the same delicacy as a mother does a new born babe,
Exploring and evasive,
All the time our analytical minds racing with possibilities,
How?
Who cares,
In your arms I find safety, security,
Something that for so long had been gone and I am left,
With a fear which says that something has begun,
And the joy that results from a simple kiss with,
The passing of,
Almost twenty four hours…
