AMT as an MAOI

So i read that AMT acts as a very mild MAOI, I'm also aware that DMT cannot be ingested orally unless you have taken an MAOI, would the recreational dose of AMT work to this end? if not, what dose would work?

also, would it be safe to combine AMT and DMT in this manner?

The MAOI effects are insignificant, i don't think it will work at all. You'll just be tripping on the AMT unless you add Syrian Rue or something equivalent.

Edit - only add maoi to dmt, i am unaware of it's effects with amt.

Adding an MAOI with AMT will not end well (ie Death)..

But no I don't think aMT's MAOI affects are significant enough to allow oral ingestion of DMT.

I don't think so. Nicotine is a mild MAOI but people who smoke DMT with tobacco don't report any increase in the length of the trip. Tobacco also contains other MAOI compounds

Technically, everything that is broken down by MAO inhibits it because your MAO enzymes become preoccupied with one task and cannot simultaneously break down other drugs.

However in cases where there is no significant MAO inhibition like with nicotine, there is plenty MAO left to break down the DMT. So we are not really interested in that sort of basic reversible competitive inhibition. But it is understandable that we discuss them because there is hardly a clear line to draw. Instead it is a gradual scale from mere substrate to having the potency to activate something like DMT. Theoretically if you would have enough of any MAO-A substrate in your system, DMT might be activated but in a lot of cases the quantity needed would be so big that it would kill you right away.

Harmala alkaloids are apparently of another caliber. Maybe not categorically or qualitatively (also RIMA effect) but the extent to which MAO enzymes are being occupied is obviously significant enough.
I think AMT is somewhere half way. Again enough of it could probably activate DMT but the dose needed would - I think - be a massive overdose.

You'd need to take approximately the entire worlds supply of AMT to achieve an MAOI effect sufficient to activate DMT. I think you would be dead long before then.
