I take 30mg dexedrine or 60mg vyvance (mostly) every day. I have a prescription and consider this a relatively healthy regimen of amphetamine. I don't abuse my scripts or street stims, and keep my caffeine intake low as possible. I smoke cannabis and take antipsychotics and benzodiazepines to come down, and haven't had an amphetamine psychosis in over a year (that was back when I smoked meth). The changes in health that I have noticed: I tend to want to smoke cigarettes more when I am on amps, and end up smoking like 3 or 4 cigs a day. This is a recent development and I didn't have a pre-existing addiction to nicotine. As well, I eat mostly desserts and sugary things and don't eat enough quantity of food, so my nutrition definitely suffers from the anorectic effects (smoking a joint helps with this.) I have read and heard that long term amphetamine use can lead to cardiac problems, but I have only been on them for about 2 years so I doubt that's relevant yet.
Anyway I was just curious as to what other people's amphetamine habits are like, and how you try to minimize the impact of amphetamines on your health. This was intended for prescription amphetamine patients but I would actually be very interested to hear from people who "self-prescribe". I have a friend who smokes a point of meth several times of day rather than taking extended release pharmaceuticals and it seems to work well for him. I never really tried to use meth like a medicine and was just getting high whenever ("all the time") and not taking low dose antipsychotics every day (I have bipolar disorder, and events can be triggered by stimulants, especially meth.)
One more thing I do is stretch thoroughly every day.
