Amphetamines for diagnosed hypersomnolence/narcolepsy

I've been taking max dose Vyvanse 70 mg for hypersomnolence for about a week now, started taking it about a month ago. I still cannot stay awake. I take it at 6 AM, I can sense it kicking in around 8-9 AM, but at 12-1 PM, it is GONE. So frustrating, and I don't want my MD thinking I'm abusing it by telling him I am still tired despite what's equal to 30 mg Adderall XR. Does anyone else have this problem?

I do NOT abuse any drugs and never will. But I am afraid to talk to my MD about maybe adding on some IR Adderall in the afternoon to get me through the rest of the day. I have to study at night, and this is making it almost impossible.

Also, is anyone taking an amphetamine with bupropion (Wellbutrin)? I was thinking that taking them together may be inhibiting the effects of the amp, but my prof at school doesn't think so.

Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!! :)

i had a similar problem a few years back and i was prescribed 70mg adderall a day so just be honest
 
Ah, that's a relief. How did it work for you? I think the dose I'm at is fine, I just really need it to last longer than 6 hours.
 
Well they say 70mg Vyvanse = about 30mg Adderall or Dexedrine, and a lot of people take more than that like 40-60mg Adderall, i've heard of people taking up to 140mg Vyvanse.. maybe your doctor can give you an extra 30mg to take a bit later in the day or something. Or an IR dex/adderall to add on later etc..
 
So I tried it - I split my Vyvanse 70 mg in half and took half at about 10:30 and half at 3. Fan-freaking-tastic. I was a little tired around 3, waiting on the second half to kick in, but here it is, 8:30, and I'm still awake! Too bad though, because I talked to my MD about what's been going on and what he suggests, and he does NOT want to do twice a day dosing on the Vyvanse. Even though it apparently works. I could go 50 or 60 mg twice a day and be perfect I think, with no euphoria or insomnia. Now he wants to titrate up on Concerta. What do we think about Concerta?? I know nothing about it, though it is clinically the same as an amphetamine. Any experiences?
 
I've had past successes using Modafinil (Provigil in the States) to treat hypersomnia, though never combined the other stimulant therapies. It's quite expensive however.

Perhaps someone with some experience in combining the two could chime in.
