Upon further reflection, I think I remember reading somewhere that more receptor expression can lower pleasure, because it's perceived as portion of receptors stimulated. Although, I must imagine that the max would still be better. Maybe like multiplying sine wave by coeffecient?

i totally agree. An increase in receptor expression would definitely cause a decrease inability to feel pleasure, as more receptors are harder to fill. I wonder if the more amphetamines you take, the higher you can actually get? This is new information to me, as i have always thought amphetamine damaged receptors, therefor causing a decrease in ability to naturally experience dopaminergic pleasure, but now i have a new opinion. I wonder if phenyl-group amphetamines/stimulants have the same effect on receptor expression. I have taken many amphetamines, but never MDMA. I would assume phenethylamines would have the same effect as said amphetamines on receptor expression because they are endogenous? any thoughts?

I'm not sure whether I follow the logic. Regardless of proportion of receptor-occupancy, an increased density in a particular receptor will increase the probability of ligand-receptor interaction, given a certain quantity of ligand. This should increase the rate of intra-cellular consequences induced by a particular quantity of ligand.

I always believed that the ratio of filled receptors to non-filled receptors is what caused the "high", whether natural or drug-induced.
