Amoxicillin

I was reading somewhere (erowid i think) that amoxicillin can show up as cocaine/crack on a drug test... I have a lot of Amoxicillin 500mg tablets and were wondering if taking them has any effects on you? Or if they just contain something that coke does? Any suggestions welcome =)

I couldn't tell you why amoxicilin would trip up a drug test, but I think it's safe to say anti-biotics won't get you high.

I am assuming you didn't get "black market" amox. Just tell them you are taking it.

There's no way that amoxicillin itself would show up on a typical drug test, otherwise they'd be getting false positives on a positively rediculous number of people. Nobody would be able to trust the results in the least, not that they should be paying any attention to them in the first place.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if someone was being treated with amoxicillin, probably in a combination tablet with one of the many substances (clavulanate potassium, for example) that can potentiate amox's antibiotic effects, and something *else* they were on innocently for medical purposes could have tripped the test. There's plenty of things that might do that.
But I don't think that any test that allowed plain amoxicillin to set off any substance markers would be useful for any purpose.
