Does anyone have the LD50 of this antidepressant. I'm not suicidal, just curious. I find it helps me sleep, but I don't want to pull a 'nick drake' or such.

Thanks in advance...

H-)

I take it for neuropathic pain and WOW, it works so well; much better than morphine. I was worried by the dosage, but it seems I'm well under any dangerous dosage.

Many thanks for that, Nuke, I owe you one!

For the love of god, please do a literature search for some human data before you go assuming animal toxicology data translates 1:1 to humans. Children can experience lethal arrhythmias at >2mg/kg and adults at >20mg/kg. I'm not sure what dose you were rx'd, but the sedative effects plateau at between 20-40mg for a 75kg male with normal BMI and no tolerance to amitriptyline.

According to this, 10-11mg/kg can be quite toxic...

Ingestion of 750 mg or more by an adult may result in severe toxicity. The effects in overdose will be potentiated by simultaneous ingestion of alcohol and other psychotropic drugs.
Overdose effects are mainly due to anticholinergic (atropine-like) effects at autonomic nerve endings and in the brain. There is also a quinidine-like effect on the myocardium.

Yuck, I hate this stuff, makes me wake up feeling like a zombie.

If you mean Amitriptyline... it's usually used as an analgesic adjuvant (the pain specialists redundant word for synergizing w/ a specific action of the drug)... are you sure that you don't have residiual opioids increasing its efficiacy? Pregabalin and neurontin also are used in this fashion (adjuvant for opioids)
