Amidst Sunrise

My weary brow crawls slowly away from open palms.
In a manner so closely akin to this mornings sunrise.
It was raining at half past six.
But a new days promise overcame melancholy's loom.
Initially I recall the hint scarlet.
Oppressed still by darkened skies and yet so resilient.
It was a catalyst setting aflame my fervor.
Summoning home my sovereign spirit.
Ambiguous silhouettes fade from focus.
As a monochrome monarchy came thundering down.
A renaissance, a resurrection, a debacle undone.
As rains final drops gently cleansed my conscience.
Amidst a horizon and my dreams.
Impoverished realities quickly erode away.
And if I drew a line in hourglass's fleeting sand
Upon which shore should I chose a home.
And if I lost my grace
I wouldn’t wait for an idle hand to lift me up
And if another night should fall upon this landscape of scenic strife
I’d forsake a far flung star’s scornful guiding light
Alas...
Temperamental thoughts run untamed
And for every triumph and every fight
Empathy silently grows slightly more rigid
We’re all in stride amid the walking wounded

There's a grace in you that can never be denied, dear. It was the first thing I saw in you when you took my hand, it's one of the million things I miss when you're far away. I am glad you are my friend David... even though this just made me cry. :)

this was so poetic... you have such a way with words.
i really enjoyed this. thank you for your brilliance ;)

you know, if you werent so intelligent, and elegant with your words, I'd think you were a total asshole :) Of course, many could say the same about me.
You're one of my best friends Dave, and coming from someone so scared of critisicm from those I hold close to me, I can honestly say this was truly beautiful.

Dave, your words are always filled with such passion. Now that I know you so much better, they help me to see a little bit more into what I know must be your loving, kind heart.

I’m always hesitant to reply to my own posts in this forum. Don’t want to self promote too much (atleast not here) and I kind of am on the opinion to allow art to simply speak for itself.
At the same time however it’s always tough to allow kind words to pass without a proper return.
So I wanted to say thanks to everyone who takes the time to read my writing and thanks to everyone that gives a kind word.

Dave, this was beautiful when you first read it aloud to me. It's even more beautiful now. Thank you for everything and things to come. I

you sweety.

Holy smokes Dave!!!!! That was absolutely stunning!!! Easily one of the best poems I have seen posted in here in a long time. You have talent. ‘Nuff said.
With much respect,
Jeffrey

Had to read this again. You make me smile.
Is it my turn yet to buy the next round? I know a great little place a few hundred miles due north. ;)
