i have a few questions that I would appreciate some help with.

I have been a night worker for 3 years now. Work 11-7 M-F. I usually had no problem sleeping during the day, but a few weeks ago I started to develop some insomnia related to some different stressers in my life.

I went to see a doc about the insomnia, and she prescribed Hdroxyzine and if that doesnt work, Ambien. I have been taking the Hydroxyzine and it seems to work ok, but i have noticed it takes a while to kick in. I wake up to go to the bathroom but dont usually have any trouble falling back asleep. She also prescribed ambien..but after some online research, i am quite scared to take it.

Anyone take ambien who needs to sleep during the day? Any help would be appreciated!

Best advice I can give you is, go with 5 mg only. It works much better as a sleep aid
I'm guessing the stories you've read online probably refer to the trippy qualities of ambien, but that rarely happens on 5 mg, maybe 10, and you kind of have to force yourself into staying wide awake... Shouldn't be a problem if you're already tired, it's called a sleep aid for a reason

ambien never had the tendency to make me fall asleep. it just made me feel weird...not in a good way or bad way....neutral..benzo like..i had to make myself sleep to make the ambien work...trazadone knocks me right out , that helps with sleep, but it is known to cause a hang over..try "Rozerem" its a non addictive sleep aid, prescription, and it works great!

I took ambien for a while earlier this year and didn't have any particular problems with sleeping during the day (well...less than I would otherwise). It did create some kind of permanent uncomfortable drowsiness but tbh that's happened with every single sleeping pill I've ever tried. However if you do decide to start taking it, be sure not to rely on it every night because it's particularly awful to come off and you'd really do well to avoid getting addicted.
