im new to bluelight and ive posted several times asking for some advice and have not gotten much of a response. so Herbavore recommended i post here.

ive been on ambien on very high doses for years and i am wanting to detox from it and stop taking it altogether. i have tried before and had awful withdrawal symptoms so i was hoping maybe taking some valium would help with the anxiety and withdrawls. does anyone have experience with this?? im really clueless on this and i really need to quit the ambien.

ive also heard that taking milk thistle, uva ursi, and doing a colon cleanse would help flush my system faster.

thanks for anyone who can help!

I am on my 7 month of getting rid of withdrawal symptoms. Nothing but alot of pain, muscle tightness, sedation and headaches. It is hell and none of that stuff will help. Your brain has to heal from the damage the dam Ambien did to you and me. It affects ever one in different ways. The list of withdrawal symptoms are 4 and 5 pages long. It works on neurotransmitters and GABA receptors. I wish you peace because you will need it.

Hey Crimsonandclover.. I love the name by the way and will be listening to that directly.

So as far as the supplements to increase flushing of the liver.. Im not saying these wont help but the real problem lies in the tolerance that your brain has underwent trying to return to homeostasis with the addition of the ambien you have been taking so frequently.

Since this is basically a benzo, a little different.. but basically a benzo withdrawal.

Here is some really good information that I agree with.

Here is also some really good information on benzo withdrawal and tappers. With withdrawing benzos just take it slow but keep moving forward. Please really read through the ashton manual as this is the best information I have ever seen on bezos and withdrawals.

and here is some really good stuff on PAWS which you will find yourself experiencing.

it is a powerful thing to keep our thoughts possitive and here are some threads many of us use to help us do this.

You can do this.. it often a kinda rough road out but it does get better. I detoxed of 6 mgpd xanax after almost twenty years of daily dependence. it gets jiggy at times and can be uncomfortable.. but I didn't really taper... so I think the best way is a slow tapper, cut adjust, cut adjust, sut adjust.. and just keep moving forward.

I know there is a whole ton of info there but its all pretty relevant even if it doesn't seem that it will be now, so just think about working your way at whatever pace you like through it.

You can and will do this<3!!!
