I'm trying to kick a methadone habit and on day 21 still having some terrible withdrawals. Was put on it for pain 4 years. I've been taking ambien prescribed by the Dr. I only get 2 to 3 hours of sleep a night with it. My real question I think after it wears 6 hours later I feel worse anxiety and shakes. I don't know if it's ambien causing it or just part of withdrawing. I dont' know if it's better to just stay off of it and try to wear out my body or 2 to 3 hours is better then nothing? I feel better in the evening but go through hell in the morning and early night. RLS shakes muscle pain it all get amplified. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions.
Thank You,
-Rhino

I'd suggest some Benzos for opiate withdrawl. Sleeping drugs can get me really sloppy and feeling like total shit. My stash of emergency withdrawl meds is Valium, Xanax and klonopins and a big bag of weed :D

i say stop taking the ambien for a few days and see if thats whats causing it. call your dr. and let him know what the hell is going on, maybe he can prescribe you some xanax for bedtime, that should knock you down, just dont get hooked on that shit, benzo withdrawl is worse than opiate withdrawls...goodluck, my friend here says do it the good ole fashon way....get laid, should give you a nice sleep....lol

Is Ambien/eszopiclone the same as Immovane/zopiclone? if it is, then I would suggest it probably isn't the Ambien giving you the anxiety and shakes.
My friend says that for management of W/D it has always been helped by the Zopiclone, especially if he sucks on the tablet slowly between the tongue and roof of his mouth, while lying down, and that as it slowly (VERY slowly dissolves) it helps him fall asleep but more importantly, stay asleep for longer and works really well when you need sleep after being in W/Ds for a while ;).
But this is a regular release tablet. Not sure what type of Ambien you are using IR or CR... I think it also has some anti-anxiety action on its own so I'm not sure why it would cause anxiety like symptoms, but you should ask your GP, or perhaps a pharmacist, who could give you advice at least on the Ambien as the cause of you symptoms. Good luck and happy sleeps!

No - Ambien(Zolpidem), Immovane(Zopiclone), Lunesta(Eszopiclone).

Ambien(Zolpidem) has very weak anxiolytic, myorelaxant, and anticonvulsant properties.
At recommended doses, elimination half-life is about 2,5 hours.
OP I think this applies to your question.

Immovane(Zopiclone) is reported to have hypnotic, sedative, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant and anticonvulsant properties.
At recommended doses, the elimination half-life of the unchanged zopiclone is approximately 5 hours.
OP try some Zopiclone for a longer sleep without the drowsyness the next morning.
