Amatryptilene(sp?)

Not exactly sure how you spell it, but Amatryptilene(sp? sorry!), the tricyclic antidepresent...I've found a use for it but I'm not sure what interactions it would have with whatever drugs I'm on.
It just makes me tired as all hell, but sometimes that is what I need after other drugs. What would the interactions be with: speed (dex,amphetamine, methylphenidate, methamphetamine, etc) or coke, or acid/E?
I find the stuff absolutly useless besides for this *possible* application. I have a good number of them I aquired from an Ex (she was perscribed it to help w/ some pain due to a nerve that had some scar tissue from a previous surgery agrivating the nerve), since she discontinued use. She was hearing shit and getting nutty. Couldn't sleep, stuff really fucked w/ her head.

Name brand is Elavil. I've been taking it for the past 3 months for sleep. Last night I began tapering down on the dose. Actually I was wondering the same thing that you are about the interactions.
I'm not as curious anymore cause I plan on getting off of this stuff ASAP. One of the side effects is weight gain and I've gained 30 pounds in the last 3 months.
I can tell you this: If you take it daily make sure you dont stop abruptly. I guess withdrawal symptoms arent uncommon and neither are seizures. I cut my dose in half last night and I havent slept yet. So I guess I am experiencing some WD.
I think my doctor is an asshole for giving me this instead of Ambien. I just think anti-depressents have a far greater chance of producing nasty side effects. Well, fatigue and sleepiness is a side effect of this drug. If I need to sleep and I cant find any real drugs I'll use diphenhydramine. Perhaps you should do the same if you cant find any info regarding interactions of this stuff.
One interaction that I found info on is CNS Depressants like alcohol, barbituates, opiates...Amitriptyline may enhance these. You seem to be worried about speed though.

I've been on TCAs for a while. They do have a synergistic effect with other depressants. When I went off them for a short time last year, I noticed that I seemed to have much more energy than I was accustomed to. Then again, my attention span was shorter, as well.

TCAs are god-awful shit, much worse even than the nastiest of the SSRIs. And there are some weak-ass SRIs, let me tell you.
Whenever possible AVOID these pathetic excuses for therapeutic substances. Personally, I'd expect to get more antidepressant effect from a baseball bat to the skull.
As for interactions, yes -- there are many, and not all of them are well-researched. This is shocking considering how long TCAs have been on the market; basically, doctors seem to be content to say "don't do drugs while you're on these, it could kill you" and leave it at that.
Rat fuckers.
In any case, I wouldn't recommend these to anyone, under any circumstances unless for some truly bizarre reason you've tried them and found them to be the only thing that seems to work for your particular nervous system. Even then, I wouldn't go around mixing street drugs with them. You'll probably be fine as far as anyone can tell, but the long-term consequences are almost totally unknown and even in the short term, mixing these with anything that causes major brain chemistry changes (amphetamines, the MDMA family, psychedelics, serotonergics, SSRIs, MAOIs, etc etc.) is asking for trouble.
In summary: you're probably fine, but if you ask me, don't touch this shit with a ten-foot pole!

I agree 100% with super... this is nasty shit, the side effects FAR outweigh any benifits for most of the population - SOME people actually benifit from these but many more don't .. YMMV!
