Amanita Muscaria - Redosing question

Yesterday I had 5 grams of Amanita Muscaria mushroom about 1pm and at another 5 grams about 8pm. I had a wonderful experience with it and was wondering how long I should wait to redose again. I know with psilocybin mushrooms and lsd they say to wait a few days or even a few weeks because the effects won't be as strong but Amanita Muscaria has Muscimol in it so I was wondering if the same rule applies. I thought I remember reading somewhere that you don't have to wait but I can't find where I read that. Does anyone know anything about this or have any experience with it?

Well I took another 5 grams at 2pm. It's now 4pm and I only felt only a little something. Perhaps I should have consumed a higher dose or maybe the cap I ate wasn't as potent, as I have read that the consistency between caps can vary quite a bit.

I have only eaten wild one's. Amanita Muscaria Formosa, (the yellow ones) they grow wild in the same spot every year in Minnesota. They didn't get me high, but gladly made me puke.

Just make sure to prepare them correctly.

They MUST be dried over a low heat first. Consuming raw ones will make you pretty damn sick. (and its potentially lethal to pets, particularly dogs)

I find they make a good tonic in low doses, an endurance/energy booster. Decent as a sleep aid, anxiolytic etc.
And for cooking too. Dried over low heat still, then ground to powder, a small, sub-psychoactive quantity is an absolutely essential ingredient for me whenever I cook a chilli, it really works well to bring out savoury, umami, meaty type flavours :)

Might just brew some tea tonight actually, see if I can't get some sleep. Got lots of them dried, but this year has been very poor, I haven't found a single one :( usually I go every year to the same place and pick carrier bags full of the things, the other year I hauled in so many that I had my work cut out, and the family bugging me because I was using the oven 24/7 =D

Muscimol is a GABA agonist rather than a serotonin agonist like psilocybin. So I would have thought that you could redose pretty quickly after, but that is a guess. That being said, spacing out trips is never a bad idea.

What kind of effects were you getting with those kinds of doses? I always thought you had to dose quite a bit higher, like in the region of 15-20g. Thats what I did, and if anything next time I will go higher again.

Been quite interested in these quite recently because I found an abundance of them in a local birch wood. Would be interested in using them as a winter tonic/lucid dream explorative, but I would need a comprehensive prep guide first. could anyone provide me with such a guide?

Basically all there is to it, to ensuring the decarboxylation of the toxic ibotenic acid into muscimol, is heating over a low heat, until nice and crispy dry. I just put them in the oven, on a fooil-lined baking tray overnight with the oven door slightly open to allow the moisture (there is a LOT of water content, especially if picked in wet weather), I take the stems off, but it isn't important in preparing them, just more convenient, I only use the caps, just because they are what make decent tea IMO.

Thanks for that. I was considering drying them outdoors over a fire pit. But if you say you need to dry overnight, that's longer than I expected. read a few reports that said an hour was sufficient. That's the prob - so many conflicting reports/opinions.

It would be really really difficult to get these dry in a few hours. I don't know exactly how long is needed as a minimum. I just like getting them nice and dry to store for the winter and coming year.

I tend to scrape the gills away too to make it easier, as there is a very large water content in the gills and they can turn mushy really easily, I just know that how I do mine works. To prepare for table use as food, they need parboiling with two separate pans of water, throwing each one out after (unless, I imagine, one wants to use it as tea) before subjecting them to whatever cooking process is chosen for them after.

If you want to redose, then drink your urine. This is how the shamans do it. One person will eat the amanitas, and then it will be passed along via urine several times.

Please say you aren't serious! That is the most disgusting thing I've ever heard!

The urine can be passed along to several different people before it loses it's activity.

If this is the most disgusting thing you are aware of, perhaps it's time for you to broaden your horizons.

I've been hunting for wild mushrooms since I was little more than 4 years old actually. Taught myself from books as a little kid.

Not, at that age, taking Amanitas, first time I tried any magic mushrooms, I think I would probably have been around 11-ish, and those were psilocybes rather than Amanita muscaria, on a residential away trip with my spesh school (I'm classically autistic)

Interestingly, I think they helped catalyze quite a lot of personal growth, self awareness and more awareness of others in social interactions, although i have never needed social contact in the way that neurotypical people do, thats not a bad thing though, I couldn't imagine being socially addicted, unable to see the beauty in nature, for instance, in the small things, that others seem to not so much ignore, as to be completely unaware of.

Certainly glad I had the experience when I did, not that I am recommending that little kids, spesh or not, be given shrooms :P

Nobody gave me those, or pushed me into it though, I sought them out, and picked them myself.

wow! 4 years old? That's a great age to start. You must be brimming with knowledge. I went out at the weekend, found and photographed a few varieties in the local woods. I found a family of amanita muscaria, in different stages of life, under a maple tree, but I couldn't being myself to pick them...they looked so beautiful. Anyway, I got plenty of photos and I know where they are for next year, if I decide to take the plunge. I'd much rather find and pick my own than buy them off t'internet. I'm having no luck finding libs so far but have some pastures to check later.
