I have been smoking H on and off for about a year(maybe a few times a month), but recently almost everyday for about a month.

Anyways, my one and only connect got busted and is now in jail (I think), so I have not been able to use.

During this time, I have been feeling sick and depleted of energy. More specifically I feel cold on the inside, but hot on the outside and sweating. I have trouble sleeping and can only sleep with sleeping aids.

Am I withdrawing?

that too, but more specifically how long have you been without? you will get sicker each day till the culmination of your withdrawal, then you have paws to deal with for weeks after the initial dopesickness ends, super horrible restless legs that feel like you need to stretch every muscle in them every 5 seconds that will never let you get any rest, racing thoughts, hot / cold, sweating, stomach cramps, muscle and bone aches, throwing up while shitting diahreah at the same time with barely enough energy to wipe your own ass as you lay there feeling like the worst cancer in the world is about to take your life, only you can't sleep through it, with mentally cringing anger, irratibility and depression that seems shattering to the very core of your soul, and all this can be eliminated instantly with just one more dose of an Opiate....... I've been going through it for 2 weeks and I've never even used heroin just pills... I hope your usage wasnt that heavy and maybe yours will be mild.

if you can hold out and just get through it then that might be for the best unless you can find a steady connect again.. But that's just my personal two cents...

I have been clean since last sunday. and damn bpayne that post just made me not want to touch this shit again! But I know thats not happening...

Yes, you're in withdrawal. Just guessing here, but I'd venture to say it will be rather mild. How long after your last use did you start feeling the discomfort? I lived in Southeast Asia for a long time and that's where I began my opiate addiction, to the best junk the world has to offer. The kind of heroin I was using, 8 hours later the WD would start. Tearing eyes, runny nose, anxiety, etc. 16 hours later and the muscles start screaming pain. Try to drink anything, even water, you'll puke it up. If you make it to 20 hours staying vertical after the last fix of number four white heroin, you best use your remaining strength to find a Super 8 motel bed or something, where you'll lie in the dark in a pool of sweat, burning up one second, freezing the next. The bones feel like they're getting slowly crushed, the legs shake...anxiety, fear, depression, desperation are at their max, and all you can do is take it. Maybe you'll have a bout of diarrhea, maybe not. At least 5 days, of which the second and definitely the third are the worst. After about a week, you might feel strong enough to walk steadily, slowly, but not much more.

I realize I've just written a lot, but it's for a reason. You're able to post on a discussion board during your particular withdrawal. You'll have some worsening symptoms, and all you can do is wait them out, but you're significantly better off WD-wise than someone coming off of a seriously heavy habit of seriously heavy junk. Just the fact that the sleeping pills you're taking are helping you somewhat is indicative that your case is much more manageable than most. At my worst, I could eat 100mg of diazepam and it wouldn't help me in the slightest. You're strong enough to sit in a chair.

You'll be just fine. Just wait it out, realize it can't kill you, and you'll recover rather fast IMO.

I'd say stay away from it forever now that you lost your connect. It might be a sign that it's time to stop, because it will only be harder to stop in the future. Just my opinion.

You're in a perfect position to avoid a life of dependence including horrible [off & on] physical/mental pain. Based on your history, you've only touched the surface of how bad it's going to be if you continue. This comes from someone whose struggled for over over 30 yrs. If you need to get a buzz... smoke a little weed.

yeah thanks for all the responses. withdrawals werent that bad, went away after a few days.

tried to stay clean but just recently relapsed. now fiending for some more. fuck this stuff

it may be hard to believe but you with get through it. it will get worse, but you gotta watch the cravings. if u can make it past the first couple days, its down hill. one dose will fix it, but thats addiction. you always say 'just one more' and before you know it your doin shots (or in ur case, chasing the dragon) every day. it sucks man, but yes- you are in withdrawl. look at the thomas recipe below..

THOMAS RECIPE

If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.

For the Recipe, You'll need:

1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.

2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).

3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.

4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).

5. Vitamin B6 caps.

6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).

How to use the recipe:

Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.

Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.

During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.

Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.

At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.

Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.

As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.
