Am I Going Through Withdrawal?

A little background I have been using hydrocodone an oxycodone for around 4-5 years pretty regularly once a day. Recently my dosage went up to 6 10s a day and it was just too much money so I decided to stop. Starting 2 Thursdays ago I did a half suboxone the next day I did another half sub then the rest of the weekend once a day I did a 4th of a strip once a day.

Starting last Monday I have had nothing including today. I hate felt very fatigue, random body aches, sometimes I get feelings like I need to stretch but stretching doesn't help it sucks, and sleeping is very hard and frustrating. I also just feel weird, is this my withdrawal? Are the subs still working? How long do you guys think this will last?

Thanks!

It all depends on so many diff things. One 10 mg oxy or hydro per day for 4 years you will absolutely have withdrawals but on the withdrawal scale relatively mild. Upping to 60 mg per day can make those withdrawals significantly worse and longer lasting depend on how long you have been on the increased dosage.

Those are definitely standard withdrawal symp symptoms but they seem to be lessened with the subs. I was on 60 mg to 120mg oxy or hydro per day for almost 5 years. Physical withdrawal symptoms would fluctuate but we're usually pretty hard core. Overall physical fatigue probably a month or so.

I used the Thomas recipe for a couple days which helped. I suggest Loperamide for your stomach and if possible clonidine for sleep and to reduce anxiety.

Yes, you are experiencing classic mild withdrawal symptoms. You'll likely still have some buprenorphine in your blood but the levels will be getting pretty negligible.

How long you will continue feeling shitty really depends on your individual body, but I think it's safe to say that you're probably through the worst of it. It's hard to say because your addiction was to a short acting opiate and you have used a long acting one to do a fast taper (as many people do), but I would definitely be looking towards starting to feel better sooner rather than later. Don't get downhearted if it takes longer, everyone's different, but I would imagine that by the middle of next week you will be feeling well on the way to ok physically, if not almost completely there.

Do what you can to get as many calories as possible inside you (assuming you're not overweight, a rare thing for an opiate addict) to give your body fuel for regeneration. Getting lots of fibre in your diet will help sort out your digestive system and keep things regular/solid (I would suggest this over using loperamide unless you have the shits badly, which it doesn't sound like you do), and loading on vitamins and fish oil can only help matters. When the restless feeling you are describing gets particularly annoying, a hot shower is a really good non-pharmaceutical solution that can provide you with some temporary relief.

With regards to the sleep, try melatonin if you feel the need for some help. Most sleep medicines carry a considerable risk for an opiate addict (as do most sedatives), but melatonin is the hormone naturally released by the body that makes you feel sleepy and is pretty much 'safe'. It's a script only med here in the UK, but I know you can get it over the counter in the US. I don't know whether you need to go to the pharmacy or the health supplement shop but it is very effective for many people. At this stage I would be straying away from using 'regular' pharms if you can.

Let us know what you choose to do and how you get on, I reckon you're probably well on the way towards feeling right physicallly though.

Thanks for the help and suggestions guys. I feel a bit better today mainly because my dealer called an tried to get me to buy 70 tabs like I usually do I said no. It was great to say/do.

I started exercising pretty hard 3-4 times a week so I feel that helps but usually an hour or more after my workout I start feeling like shit. Work is just horrible still I sit at my desk and I just don't feel right still but my main question was answered these are withdrawals I'm going through. The impossible sleep has to be the worst most frustrating thing ever. Melatonin doesnt do anything at all. I have a bunch of xanax laying around I guess I could use that for sleep. I hate xanax so I wont be using during the day it just kills energy so it should be great for sleep then right?

It sounds like you're in minor withdrawals... Take a few days off of work get through the worst of it, and then start leading a healthy life style. Try to get to that part as fast as possible. I would just ride out the sickness and start exercising as fast as possible, take vitamins, and eat healthy. Oh and drink as MUCH WATER as you can. I mean just jug that shit. Throw a Gatorade in every gallon to balance the electrolytes.

This has worked for many people I know. It's hard, but it works for minor to medium withdrawal. If you're habit were larger, much larger, I would suggest a different course of action.

You can do it. We can help.

When I would start to withdraw, the first symptoms I would have would be random muscle aches (the feeling I need to stretch), lack of energy, and all that good stuff. Sorry to hear you're going through it.

Ahh I HATE that, the feeling to stretch and nothing seems to help that's the worst part of withdrawal for me.

Well bad news guys 2 days after it wasnt getting better so I did call back and bought them all. I have about another 60 left, will the best way to get off this shit just wean down to 0. I was up to my 6 every day again, I am now at 4 and feeling just fine off that. Every week should I take 2 10's off my dose and see what I feel like when I get down to 0? Its freaking me out a bit since I dont have any subs.

Thanks for all the help guys!
