I had ADHD and I'm a now recovering meth addict. It's much worse now even when I'm sober for months and I lost a job because of it. Doctors won't give me meds that will actually work permenantly. Am I seriously fucking screwed? I'm ready to just go back to meth, it really feels like a third of my mind is missing and even 6 months sober

amphetamines did some weird shit to my brain, and felt like total shit not being on them for a week or so, then about after the 30 days I started to feel some-what normal again. a few people in the program take Streterra(sp), and said it works with ADHD, and isn't 'bad' for you like some of the other stimulant type medicines. hope u get feeling better<3

I only slept in for a few days and felt great again, very quickly. I was legitimately surprised I didn't go into a huge withdrawal. Everyone's different.

Some BL'ers have reported long-lasting depression from meth use (like Sweet P, I hope she's doing OK)

ADHD meds don't work 'permanently'. This is a poor notion to believe in.

I don't think you're screwed. You likely feel this way due to depression.

Captain H is so right. 47 with ADHD and I will tell you all the amph will do is build tolerance until they do not work. So you r on the same cycle. There are so many other choices just as good that make you bright shiny and focused. If he won’t prescribe other options I’d get a second opinion. Plus i know of addicts that are prescribed stims. 2nd opinion and make sure to tell the Doc you got fired.

No I mean I won't get ADHD meds forever. Well, ADHD meds and amphetamines do in the long term change the structure of your dopamergic pathways but the half life is short.
