Am I alone here? Does anybody else here really just not enjoy psychedelics?

Unlike most drugs, to get a great experience out of psychedelics, you need a few pre-existing conditions: A strong grip on reality, intellectual curiosity, understanding set and setting, openness to experience, high self-awareness, and a sharp mind. With most every other drug, you know what you're in for before you dose.

Some people are just scared to try for their own reasons, nothing wrong with that. Before you trip, you don't really know where it will take you, which is either part of the fun or the fear or both.

I personally love psychedelics, they're one of the most interesting things in the entire world. Although, I do know many people who're terrified of psychedelic drugs due to a bad experience.

Man I've just gotten all that I need from psychedelics. I've binged on them. I was into strong trips and visuals at first then I cooled down to more coherent lower doses. I don't feel like they can teach me anything nowadays maybe in the future. I just like to take drugs to relax nowadays, not to delax.

It's like that for me with psychedelics. I took them at very high doses, moderate doses, low doses, and very low/threshold doses. I actually enjoyed how you get totally new and different experiences on the depending on your set, setting dose, and mind-state but since I'm sober I've found that lucid dreaming and meditation are more effective than psychedelics (including cannabis which is a psychedelic for some people, or was for me) at this. I never hated them though and I never had a "bad" trip but I had one that was sort of difficult at one part but it was on mushrooms the one time I smoked herb on them, and it was exactly what I needed at the time.

I don't think most control freak types don't like psychs; drugs where some lack much of any control on... but do like uppers..

That may explain it... I'm very much a control freak.

I had ketamine one time for a minor surgery and it made me feel like I was having an unusually vivid dream. Wasn't fun at all, though. I kept seeing plants and fungi growing on people, and in the end I didn't see why I would ever choose that over actual dreaming.

I *hated* ketamine when I first tried it because I thought it was pretty much a psychedelic. But, when dosed properly for those who don't like psychedelics, it is very very different. I actually really enjoy it now. I originally dosed the amount my bf did and my bf had a very high tolerance. So that was a terrible experience. On low doses though, I really enjoy it, combined with amphetamines.

It seems most of you are writing off psychedelics based off of shroom trips, which tend to be most peoples introduction into psychedelics, myself included. I never understood why mushrooms are a lot more common then other psychedelics other than the ease of growing and obtaining them, plus the whole "natural" thing that appeals to people. Shrooms aren't exactly the most euphoric social psychedelic out there and can be downright gloomy which I can see turning people off when, through movies, tv shows, those urban legends about what psychs do to people, end up not being true. I think things like 2cb, 2cc, and other mentally light, yet very in your face visually and very euphoric (at least with 2cb) would be a much better introduction for most people into psychs. But again they aren't for everyone, you really need to pick and choose who to do them with, and In my instance, never plan a trip out or be overly expectant of something because more often then not you'll be disappointed, let the drug take the wheel and go with the flow. Let it live up to its namesake "tripping". I love psychs, dissociatives are my favorite group of drugs (I know some people don't consider them true psychedelics, I disagree) followed by opiates.

I don't think disassociatives are the same as psychedelics, that's why they are in different classifications, sure they can share some similar traits but they are definitely not the same. I can handle ketamine and mxe but canNOT do psychedelics.
I've tried acid, mushrooms, 2ce, 2ci, and 2cc (I believe it was 2cc although it might have been 2cb, can't remember) - hated them all. I had ONE good experience on acid. That's all. Every other time - bad trips, panic attacks, etc. I tried acid first, then 2ce and 2ci, then shrooms, then 2cc.

My bf is really into psychedelics, thus why I continued to try them. He'd have such amazing trips and I wanted to feel that too. But we' re different people, I can't force myself to like them!! I had so many terrible experiences, there is no point in me putting myself through them.

Personally, I enjoy stimulants, they're my favourite type, followed by benzos. :)

not for everybody thats for sure.Using Lsd in particular ,one of the most important
things for me about the experience is "Laughing" .I tend to be a jokester type in life.
Its one of the few things aside from doing it naturally, that you can literally laugh
for for extended periods of time.Tears running down your face.I've had several trips that
ive purposedly lead in that direction .With general craziness and riduculousness. Its fun
to give strangers,a nudge in that direction as well at the moment. But like mentioned ,they're not
for all ,and not all psychs have that quality...:)

I've tried LSD since I made this post, and that was amazing. But still not into psychs for the most part..

I did 10 hbwr seeds yesterday (chewed and swallowed), and I just felt lethargic and kind of depressed.
I had a similar reaction to mushrooms a few months back....
Maybe the suboxone I take hinders the psychedelics, or maybe I'm also past the point of enjoying them. (Although sativa weed does still work for me).

The suboxone will definetly hinder the tripping, using opiates once your tripping brings you back to 'normal' pretty quick.
