MDMA is (3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methamphetamine) Yes?

Is the 'methamphetamine' in that the same as the notorious 'meth'?

If it is, why is it not addicting like meth is said to be?

Does it do the same damage on the brain/body that meth is said to do?

Correct

No, absolutely not. The two are very different chemicals.

Amines are basic chemicals found in nature and in the lab, most chemicals are a form of an amine, I believe.
Aphetamine is a class is a class of drugs with certain neurochemical releasing properties. They can be found in cold medicine as decongestants (levo-methamphetamine is OTC, but does NOT get you high), medications for weight loss or ADD but the more famous amphetamines are quite well known for their euphoric properties.
Methylamphetamine is a stronger version of regular amphetamine that is found in Dexedrine or Adderall. The methyl position makes it more accessible to your brain, and as such becomes much more powerful and addictive.

Methylene-dioxy is a structural position that is attached long before the "methampetamine" gets onto the final molecule, so there is absolutely no meth involved in the manufacture of MDMA, completely different chemicals.

The MD position on MDMA causes the effects to change drastically, making the drug become MUCH more serotonergic, as well as causing higher release rates of the Love Hormone (oxytocin) and the hormone responsible for sexual pleasure (prolactin)

Methamphetamine however works primarily on dopamine, which is the brain's reward pathway. When you do something good in life, eat healthy food, go to the gym or get an A on a big test, it releases the natural hormones that make you feel good about accomplishing something and make you want to do it again. This is why meth is so addictive, it makes you think the drug is actually good for you and you want more and more and more of it... I know, I am an ex-amphetamine addict :\

MDMA is quite different though, if you try and use it as much as people use meth tolerance builds INSANELY fast and the side effects simply become too harsh to carry on. That's why a LOT of people ruin their life with meth and most people can use MDMA with little to no problems.. people simply practice moderation with ecstasy more often.

If you were to roll everyday taking more and more everyday as a meth head would do with shards though, yes it would likely do just as much, if not even more damage than meth. As long as you keep usage to less than one roll a month this is almost NEVER a problem for anyone, however. It's only when using too often that those kind of nasty effects show up.

Yes, an MDMA molecule is a methamphetamine molecule with a "methylenedioxy" group attached. (That's where the two oxygen atoms are).

However, similarities between two molecules do not always translate to similarities in their effects as drugs. For example, both the MDMA molecule and the methamphetamine molecule "contain" ethylbenzene, but I certainly wouldn't want to take that.

Very nice. I read the op was like err.. Lol.

They are not the same chemical but work pretty similarly on different neurotransmitters. Meth is addictive, making you want to come back. Where MDMA, most people know to take breaks but usually want to come back after a while.

As far as damage, MDMA is the more neurotoxic chemical. Meaning a night out on MDMA will cause more damage to your brain than a night out on Meth. Regardless of what people on this thread will say, they are all biased users.

Would you say PMA and MDA are the same because they both have Amphetamine at the end?

MDMA and Meth are similar but they are different molecules.

Nope, not bias after a few bad experiences. I've been through the E discussion for years, and seen enough to know how quickly MDMA obliterates your mind. Do you ever see someone post saying help i feel damaged / experiencing a long come down after doing meth. Nope , you do meth you go through a terrible crash the next day or 2 and after that your mostly golden. How ever with MDMA every fucking day i see a new thread of someone experiencing a long comedown after using MDMA sparingly. Some times months later they are still experiencing real bad effects that i am positive isn't in their mind. I went through this as well..

Serotonin isn't really resilient , where dopamine is . Therefore I stand correct, Smoke some meth 1 night vs drop a few MDMA pills. The person who dosed the MDMA will experience a longer comedown / ill effects. Anyways I hate to be the MDMA hater, but i am just trying to get people to put the damage in perspective. Too many people think if they have 'clean' MDMA they are fine. I'll keep reading about the people feeling permafried from MDMA and i'll be glad that i stay farrr from it these days.

Granted there are a lot of conditions, but if you have pure MDMA, dose reasonably, aren't on any medications, are psychologically sound, have a good set and setting, and don't have some kind of wonky brain chemistry then it is quite safe.
