Hi,
Like you im a chronic insomnia, and have been for 6 years or so.
I have been taking zopiclone for about a year now, probably a bit longer but it started to become a problem for me last year after I had a major surgical procedure and really needed the restful sleep to help me heal.
Problem is, over the last 6 months or so, I've become so tolerant of it, I need a huge dose to knock me out. Initially I was only on 1 x 7.5 mg tabs. But now I appear to need up to 5 or more to achieve the same effect.
So to tackle this obvious problem I switched to xanax, a benzo, but found that I was already tolerant to it for some reason, one of the mode here will do a better job explaining why.
So net result, I need a high dose of xanaxto sleep too.
So problem hasn't been solved for me yet.
My next step is to try temazepam. Hopefully, this should work well, and i might need to take it with a combination of another benzo like clonazepam, to keep to low doses.
I will then try a slow taper down from this.
FYI, I've been on Mirtazapine for a few years as an antidepressant, first prescribed to me to help me quit my codiene habit which is what led to my two recent major surgeries.
At first they used to knock. Me out at 30 mg, but now, I take 60 mg nightly, and it doesn't make me sleepy in the least.
So my search continues, I hope temazepam works as well as it did last time i tried it in hospital, a month back, and as others habe said, it really does give a lovely euphoric feeling of well being which helps also to sleep, worry less.
But because its such a highly addictive drug, my doc hasn't prescribed it. I have a few samples to see which work for me.
Zolpidem is one of them.
Haven't tried it yet. But will let you know how i get on with it.
BTW, anyone know anything about Dormicum?
