I have just recently created a Usenet NG devoted solely to Ecstasy. The name is alt.drugs.ecstasy. Surprisingly, even though the alt.* hierarchy is English, it is getting a lot of posts from non-English speaking European countries. Thus, this NG is available worldwide. Ask your ISP to add it to their Usenet server. Usenet has significant advantages over these web-based bulletin boards which are a lot slower, so you might find posting there about Ecstasy a little easier.

commonly called "Ecstasy". While nominally this should be MDMA, this
newsgroup is for discussion of any substance sold on the street as
"Ecstasy", which often is either adulterated with other added drugs
besides MDMA, or is something other than MDMA entirely. Discussions
would include effects, usage and legal issues.
All discussions regarding attempts to sell, buy or trade this drug or any
other drug, illegal or legal, are strictly prohibited. Advertisements and
spam are prohibited. Binary postings and off-topic postings are not
permitted. The newsgroup will not be moderated.
REASON FOR NEWSGROUP:
The reason why a new newsgroup is needed is consolidation. Currently,
discussions about Ecstasy are about equally divided in number between
the recreational drug NGs, and rave NGs. They both share a common
interest, Ecstasy use, but relatively few of either camp post in the others'
NGs much. This newsgroup provides a central forum for all who wish to
discuss Ecstasy to do so.
JUSTIFICATION:
This drug is frequently discussed in drug and rave music NGs. In
searching for posts regarding the drug for purposes of numerical
justification, the following methodology was used. The search was limited
only to the alt.drugs.* and rec.drugs.* hierarchies, and alt.rave The
search
was NOT by keyword, but limited to 'E' or 'Ecstasy' or 'XTC' or 'MDMA'
occurring in the SUBJECT field of the post. This conservative methodology
limits the total number of posts counted to those dealing directly with
the topic. Over the 90 day interval of 1 November 1999 through 29 January
2000, using the exact deja.com search string: "~g
*alt.drugs*,*rec.drugs*,alt.rave~dc {1999/11/01 2000/01/29}~s {E | Ecstasy
| XTC | MDMA}" the search results returned exactly 2622 matches. Random
reading of posts revealed that 90% were fully on topic, for 2622 posts
over a 90 period, or 26 post per day.
By selecting a sample of posts randomly and reading them, this revealed
that about 90% were fully on topic. 90% of 2622 is 2359 posts over a 90 day
period. This is 26 posts daily directly on topic to this proposed NG, which
is usually adequate traffic by general consensus in alt.config for approving
a proposed NG.
No significant objection to the formation of this new NG was made when
this proposal was posted in the relevant recreational drug NGs and alt.rave.
Please give this humble proposal your consideration.
