Longtime lurker, so recently I know of a situation where someone went through ridiculously silly paranoia that resulted in them dumping a bunch of alprazolam and clonazepam pills into a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Perhaps to destroy evidence from imaginary adversaries.

After a few days the pills have turned to goo at bottom of bottle, and some (not much) powder has precipitated between the threads on the cap and outside the top of the bottle around the cap area.

Can I offer this person any advice on saving the pills in any meaningful way? I’ve read the active ingredients are soluble in alcohol..but what steps would need to be taken to recover?

The powder that naturally precipitated burns when licked

Not enough information, what specific brand of “rubbing alcohol” we dealing with, what quantity of liquid, how many of what kind of pills, how many milligrams of alprazolam/clonazepam per pill etc. ?

The alcohol type, concentration and quantity of water present along with what denaturant will affect the recovery. The goop in the bottom is most likely the binders and fillers soaking up water, the burning taste test could be residue from the denatured alcohol.

It was 90% rubbing alcohol. Mostly 1mg clonazepam the blue color ones, some 2mg white ones. I ended up just evaporating the alcohol and have the powder. Been capping it up, seems to work perfectly usually
