There are quite a few people here who have chronic pain similar to what you are experiencing.
Unfortunately, I am one of them.
What has been helpful in the past (not currently on this) is antidepressants. I forgot what name, but you can talk to you doctor about this. For me the side effects were too much for me to be on antidepressants. I am very sensitive to them. For example I shake like I have parkinson's, which makes daily living impossible.
Pregablin didn't do much for my pain, but did make me sleepy which is a good thing. I felt too out of it to think of the pain. But a lot of people get relief from it.
Opiates help me the most. Non opiate pain meds never did. But you know the risks with opiates. I currently take methadone, which helps a lot and I don't seem to get tolerant to its pain killing properties. Luckily, all opiates work like that on me. I don't feel high from them, but they never loose their pain killing properties.
But the base of my treatment is diet, exercise and prayer/meditation.
It's everything together that lets me stay sane when it gets really hard to bear this. I still ask myself, why me, even thou I know it won't do me any good.
Good luck. It's a difficult road and you will have to utilize every resource available in order to have a productive life and not live like a disabled person. Work on your weakness and use your strengths to your advantage.
And you have to stay positive, otherwise it will be much more difficult. It's easy to get down, but that will not help you at all.
