Opioids allergy to codeine, allergy to opium?

I've actually posted a question similar to this one but I didn't include all of the details so I'm gonna give it another go...

So I'm definitely allergic to codeine. Once upon a time after taking about 8 tylenol with codeine (I forget the mg) I got itchy in a different way than when I usually take opiates. My skin got tight and it felt like my skin was in the way when I would move. Luckily after taking a shower the itchiness and weird tightening or swelling of the skin went away.

So here's the thing, I am about 95pct sure I smoked opium after I had my allergic reaction. So why didn't I get any negative symptoms from it? Codeine is a constituent of opium correct? I'm too afraid to try opium now, (when I tried it before I didn't think about it having codeine or about me having a reaction) but I would like to try it again if I get information that deems it "safe".

Thanks in advance.

Codeine doesn't like extreme heat (such as a flame from a lighter), so it will degrade upon contact with the flame ;)
So, unless you're also allergic to Morphine or other Opiates that are constitutes of Opium, then you should be fine smoking it :)

I would find out if you are allergic to Morphine though, as it's not far off from Codeine with regards to it's molecular structure. But I'm not a trained Pharmacologist so I cannot tell you with certainty that their structural similarity will produce similar allergic reactions for you.

Just keep safe and be careful! :)
