So I've smoked weed about 8 times in my life. And this is how it always goes:

  • Inhale/exhale, (usually only takes one hit)
  • Wow I feel so relaxed now.
  • Everything that's moving has a strobe-like effect, sweeeet.
  • I can hear the people's conversation outside perfectly.
  • My hearts beating fast..why is it beating so fast?
  • Oh god its beating loud too. Its the only thing I can hear.
  • Just act normal, don't freak out, you're fine.
  • Oh goddd, why did I smoke pot god damnit.
  • Don't make eye contact with anyone, just stare at that random poster over there.
  • My hearts not slowing down, wtf.
  • ____________ is talking but I can't understand him because my hearts too loud.
  • I can't stop touching my face, fidgeting.
  • It's too hot in here.
  • It's too small in here.
  • I need more space.
  • My throat is tightening.
  • I'm scared.
  • I want this to stop.
  • I shout "UM GUYS I DON'T FEEL SO GOOD"..well because my hearts beating so loud, its the only way they'll hear me
  • run to the bathroom and proceed to throw up whatevers in my stomach
  • dry heave for another hour
  • pass out on the bathroom floor

Everyone I know smokes. And every time we're chillen, I get offered a blunt, but I always have to turn it down. I get these weird faces and people think I'm crazy for not smoking.

The first time I smoked this happened and it took me a year to touch weed again. Someone had told me I had to raise my tolerance. Did it 7 more times in the course of 2 months, and still the same shit. I've rolled plenty of times without trouble, tripped a handful of times without trouble, and did a few odds and ends here and there. Handled them all fine. why can't I handle weed? Am I allergic? Is it just not right for me?

Thanks!

I dont think you are allergic, sounds like anxiety episodes. I used to get them when i first started and had no tolerance.

maybe you can try smoking alone some time.
so you dont have to fear others will see you.

It's not like in the 80's when general weed was of mild quality. Even then, when I started out I would smoke a bit too much. A couple times I vomited as well. The stuff they have nowadays is much stronger. So I would suggest easing into it. Just take about 3-4 hits and work your way up. You're still not used to it and this takes time. You're not allergic, just smoking more than you can handle.

Yup sounds like anxiety. I get like this sometimes. Not near as bad tho. Mainly only happens when i havent smoked recently. I get that heart pounding thing to a lesser degree. The more you dwell on the fact you just smoked a mind altering substance that has made you freak out and sick in the past. The more likely your goin to freak out again. Try to ignore it and have fun. and ask your friends to run out and buy some swag just for you lol

Agree completely. Take your time and build tolerance. Of course, be smart about it (don't overdo it in one sitting).

three or four hits is way too much with most weed i smoke even. Sometimes like half of one hit will get me where i need to be. Try smoking such a little amount that you think it wont even do anything and see what happens.

Itd def anxiety you described all the symptoms perfectly

Anxiety man. # My hearts beating fast..why is it beating so fast?
# Oh god its beating loud too. Its the only thing I can hear.

youre hyperventilating. sounds silly but keep a paper lunch bag nearby or put your hand on your stomach when you breathe, remembering to breathe into the stomach... you are probably breathing shallowly

Thanks for all the advice guys! Wish I could enjoy being high though :(
Will try and do it by myself a few times.

As far as anxiety, everyone seems right on the money.. My recommendation,[which may also sound silly, but I'm entirely serious], keep a good vibe going. Focus on good vibes. Negative energies can destroy anything. My good friend had an anxiety disorder, and the only thing that made it worse was.. well.. thinking on it.. Like they said, you're more likely to think something is wrong if you concentrate on the fact that you took a mind-altering substance. Your brain starts to think "Oh, what have I done??" and further on about what negative things could happen. Some of it comes from misinformation. Since generally marijuana use isn't legal, more of a paranoia sets in, on top of everything bad[and usually false, mind you] that you probably have heard about it growing up.
A lot of it might also have to do with just not being used to herb. Everyone is different in the way they experience things, especially just starting out. I wasn't really into it when I was younger, but I also was just a kid and didn't really know how to interpret a high or what high really was.
Then I decided to start smoking again one day and it was just like.. "Oh..I get it now"..

Just need to relax, be happy, and feel your high out =]

If your problem persists, I might also recommend you see about getting checked for anxiety as a serious disorder.
Maybe they'll prescribe you weed ;)

doesn't sound like an allergy, sounds more like you send yourself into a small panic attack and possibly have a heart condition. i doubt the second one though by the way you describe your experience. cannabis increases your heart rate, especially amongst people with lower tolerance. right at first it put me on edge, like i was either completely relaxed or freaking the fuck out.

but ya maybe try half a hit by yourself or with a friend maybe 2. this might sound retarded, but you have to learn how to think when your high. you can't think like you normally do, thoughts don't flow like when your sober and its easier to make huge jumps in logic(like your heart rate is increasing so you must be dying, shit like that..)
