Allergic to magic mushrooms?

Hey all

So my experimentation with drug use is still on beginner levels, i took my first journey on MDMA almost a year ago and it worked wonders for me in the way of fear reduction, therapy, and communication. I introduced my other half to his first journey late last year.

So fast forward into May 2012 and I have my first real experience with shrooms. My friends and I were on a trip to an outdoor party and brewed some shroom tea for the gathering. My boyfriend was trying acid for the first time that night and encouraged me to try shrooms so that we could trip together. I cannot honestly say exactly how much I drank but I estimate it at about a cup of tea that was full of shrooms. I also took a rather large dose 160 mg or so of MDMA.

It is hard to describe what I felt that night but it was nothing short of terrifying. I did not see visuals but I felt as though i had been sucked into a wind tunnel, heart beating wildly, profuse sweating, shivering and an overall feeling that i would not make it through the night. I also threw up about 20-30 minutes after i took the Shrooms and the MDMA. In past situations I found that I was nauseous on molly but this was quite unlike anything i'd felt before. About two hours later disappointed that I did not roll nor did I trip i took another hit of MDMA..this came up almost immediately.

So i laid off all substances after that and just enjoyed the rest of the gathering coming back to earth.

Two months later in July I decided to try mushrooms again. This time by themselves at home with my boyfriend. He ate four mushrooms and I had one. I wanted to see if the MDMA interacted with the shrooms in a way that would make me ill. I also wanted to see if it was possible for me to have a pleasurable experience. About 20-40 minutes after taking them I began to feel nauseous again but it was not strong enough to make me physically ill. I had absolutely no visuals or anything else associated with taking shrooms. The body high also felt extremely uncomfortable. I felt like my brain was swelling inside of my skull and while my mate saw wonderful colors/visuals and had an awesome time I could not wait for the ordeal to be over. I finally began to feel normal about an hour later..

My question for the experienced shroomers here is this. Is it possible that I am allergic to them? What could I be doing wrong that does not allow me to have a good experience on mushrooms? I can definitely say I was tense and on edge from the last time I tried them and I wonder if that would effect how I felt. I know there is a huge mushroom thread here on bluelight but I have not yet found any information that could be helpful. Should I try them again or leave it alone altogether? What other psychedelics may work for me? Is it common for people to ingest shrooms but it have no effect on them, or just bad effects? I also am diabetic so I wonder if this would have an effect on how my body tolerates/metabolizes shrooms. I am not on any medication at the moment except for OTC meds for sleeping problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Love and Hugs,
EWF

Some people find that certain psychedelics don't "agree" with their body chemistry. Perhaps this is your case?

If you were outright allergic you would have more than likely experienced a "classical" allergic reaction - nausea, vomiting, itching, redness etc, but since you experience sense distortions & paranoia (typical effects of psilocin in some) I'd say the mushrooms are working just fine.

Try weighing your dose next time (take less than before). "one cupful" and "one mushroom" are useless dosage figures, because mushrooms are variable in size and tea can be strong or weak depending on who makes it.
