Woot, what an awesome pressie I was given.

A yoghurt maker machine thingy and its awesome yoghurt.

Im hooked on the stuff.

I am interested in peoples ideas on stuff to add to yoghurt.

Currently i am making plain yoghurt and adding a teaspoon of blackberry jam to a plate ful.

I also tried the strawberrey one which was great but so far the jam is my fave.

Any other tips?

Yogurt makers are the shit. Glad you're enjoying yours. My mother has one shoved away in a closet somewhere and I'm going to find it on my next trip.

What about lassi, salty or sweet. Mango lassi is incredible, especially if you're in the part of the country where they import those amazing Indian mangoes. There's also that Persian drink, dugh, which is a combination of yogurt, mint, sumac, carbonated water and a bit of salt. It may sound a bit unpalatable, but it's delicious

I'm particularly inspired to make Indian buttermilk (look up Yamuna Devi's recipe if you can). Skim milk, a tablespoon of cultured buttermilk, something else. I haven't made it yet so I don't have a clear list of the ingredients/process in my mind. Anyway, it's easily made in a yogurt maker.

what is lassi??

I would hate it if i found out my mangoes were coming from India.............. We grow our own beautiful mangos here.

You do know I live in Australia yeah?

Its all about that acidophollis business and the other bacteria

Get a scraping from the bathroom floor and toilet seat and shove that in the yoghurt machine

MazDan; what is lassi??

A Lassi is esentially a yogurt milkshake. They're a traditional food from India. There are many varying forms. For a couple of recipes see the following.

If you're into cannabis you can even go the Bhang Lassie. Google it. To really experience this delicacy, and if you’re into adventures, go to the desert state of Rajasthan in India, and you can consume one legally in the holy city of Pushkar. Alternatively just substitute the Bhang in the recipe with cannabis butter. It will deliver the same effects but you won’t be mesmerised by the camels and the desert. Although if you make it strong enough I’m sure you might see them anyway.
