All my buttons are inaccessible

I'm brand new but after posting to three or four threads the interface buttons suddenly stopped working, I see them but they're all grayed out and I can't press any of them. Has anybody else had this problem?

On the right hand side of your toolbar you’ll see one icon like square brackets [ ] not greyed out. Press that and your buttons will come back.
