ALERT: We should index these reports better, either into the Bluelight wiki or Erowid

The title says it all. Trip reports should be easily searchable, especially for new research substances for which this is the only place to get real info. Everyone submitting trip reports here should consider contributing to the bluelight wiki or submitting a trip report to erowid. It's kind of a hassle searching through "big and dandy" threads for adequate information. Bluelight is doing awesome things in terms of spreading the wealth of knowledge, but let's get the word out in a way better way, eh?

Welcome to bluelight! :)

This is not a trip report, but I'm going to leave this thread open for discussion.

Well, currently there are at least two options for easy report searching:
1) The Trip Reports Directory. Previously moderators tagged every trip report with tags like substancecode_XXX so they appeared in the directory. Then they neglected this idea, but old reports are available there.
I think about writing a script for auto-tagging all reports.
2) Use built-in search. It doesn't work well after recent BL upgrade, but admins should fix it soon.

^^
i was wondering why i was having trouble searching for something in particular the other day. i had to find an old thread by a very roundabout way, but luckily i was still able to find it. any details on how to get better results for searches?

Difficult to tell exactly why some searches work fine, yet others fail. It seems that it can't search keywords with hyphens and short - 3 or less character lengths - keywords. Just a guess. But searching for "methoxetamine" leads to plenty of results, while searching for "MXE" yields no results. Again, searching for both "2C-B" and "2C-B" fails. Searching for "6-APB" and "APB" fails, yet "6-APB" works okay.

So, while search functions is (partially) broken: use keywords of length 4 or more, which contain no hyphens(and perhaps other characters, apart from alphabetical and numeric)
