The best and worst of them all, most socially accepted, yet the most deadly in the long run. Lets hear your opinions and experiences off this substance. For me I am a regular beer/whiskey drinker 5 times a week and still love the stuff. For my father a drinker of 30+ years alcohol no longer 'works' on him and just leaves him fucked up and depressed, can the GABA receptors really wear out like that after that long? Lets hear it bluelight we really need to talk about heavy drinking.

What is your question? OD is for specific questions about substances (alcohol included) and harm reduction.

If you just want to talk about drinking and chat with other drinkers, I would suggest going to Drug Culture. Or, if you want to discuss the downsides of drinking The Dark Side is probably the place.

Please edit your post/title with a specific question or I can move your thread to the appropriate forum.

Well it's not that the receptors wear out, it's just his tolerance is so high that he can drink enough fast enough to get drunk.

I'm a happy drunk so I don't know bout all dat... The only bad thing I could say about drinking is how I smoke so many damn cigs when I'm drunk. I prefer beer/whiskey over any other drug because 1. It's cheap. 2. Wont fuck your life up if you know how to control it. and 3. It takes away my some depression and anxiety for me personally.

and if your worried about the gaba receptors just buy some gaba pills over the counter. They help me in alota ways.

F33lg00d: I'm pretty new here so idk how to change where the forum goes if y'all don't approve where it is my apologies, I'm sorry just a college drunk trying to relate to others, but I passed out for like 3 hours and am awake now. I still believe its the best and worst substance out there.

Rhun feel free to move this to the dark side, I don't know how and would appreciate it :)

I wasn't going to originally post this here because people are going to assume we're the same person, (which a quick IP check will show we're not). But either way I'd say it's a slippery slope. Some people seem to be able to control it and just go out and have fun on the weekends or whatever but like any addiction it's easy to let it creep up on you especially if you have an addictive personality like I do. I used to drink maybe 3 times a week and fairly moderately (like say a bottle of white wine or slightly more throughout the night), but it just became more and more until it was like a fifth of vodka and then would continue the next day. It took me a while and doing some stupid stuff and saying things I regretted to start realizing that I wasn't really under control when I drank. And when you start noticing it affecting your health it's probably good to do something about it. The only thing I hate now is it seems like I have no interests in being social or much of anything now that I'm trying to stop. For the most part I was usually a happy drunk, just unless someone fucked with me the wrong way. That's the only part that makes it hard, and plus just the fact I liked drinking.

OD ---> TDS per OP's request.

Make sure y'all read TDS rules if you're not familiar with them, glorifying drugs and alcohol is not allowed here.

Oy. The dehydrating effect of alcohol killed me. I didn't drink it much, mostly used opiates, coke, benzos…. but waking up so thirsty as if in a desert for months without water when I drank. It just never worked with my system…. And it aged me looked a lot older if I drank.

I'm sure I know the answer to the first part of the question, but has anyone else here noticed the anhedonia that comes from stopping and how did you deal with it? Did it take very long to get over? That's one of the things that's really sucked for me especially since I suffer from depression anyways. At first it wasn't really a factor at all and in the beginning I did feel moderate drinking helped my mental problems, but as it progressed it definitely made a lot of things worse.

I believe that alcohol pontentializes every problem you have.
It may work for few hours or even a day, but the next day will always be way worsen.

I think alcohol is much worse than opiates.
