So I'm 20 now and I've been drinkin since I was 14. But since entering college I've defiantly upped my drinking well this year I've had 2 seizures both occurre the next mornin after a hefty night of drinking ... My doc said they are alcohol induced seizures... Im just wondering if anyone else has had one of these or gets them...I've drank since then and I now keep my drinkin to a minimum just to be safe but like why do they happen? And the weird thing is while I'm for sure smashed Ive defiantly been more faded in my day and both time I didn't yack or blackout..any one got any input on this???

My input is go to your doctor and tell him you want to quit. What's your situation? Do you study? Do you work? I mean is there any possibility you can go to a detox? If not, you could switch to diazepam. This is the most prescribed benzodiazepine for alcohol withdrawal. Also, you might need some mild antipsychotic like levomepromazine (here we've got perazine but it's not available in the U.S.).

Well the thing is like it not everytime I drink and I usually only drink 2 or 3 times a week so I don't think they are withdrawals...and i don't work rite now but I am looking so hopefully i will be soon and I am currently in school

Hate to break to ya kid but only drinking 3 times a week is MORE than enough to withdraw.

Depends on how much he's drinking those three times a week. However, if you're having seizures (and yes, this has happened to other people I know who drank/drink a lot) then you should probably talk to a doctor before you stop drinking altogether, if that was your intention.

Detox is certainly an option, however I am worried that if you're having seizures you will probably want to be on a long acting benzo (diazepam is the most common one for alcohol WD, as was mentioned before) to bring you off of alcohol. This is something a doctor is going to be able to figure out better than we can.

Remember that alcohol is an addictive drug and you can get seizures from it, so the best way to withdraw is with medical assistance.

I was drinking up to a water bottle a day of whiskey over the summer and never had any withrawl problems...my advice for you is :pCOLD TURKEY:p....maybe you should try this approach around thanksgiving..hahaha..:|....but seriously stop

Just to let you know, OP- I changed your thread title for clarity and future search purposes.

NEVER go cold turkey off of alcohol or benzos if you're having serious withdrawals that include seizures! Heroin withdrawal may make you feel like you're dying, but alcohol and benzo withdrawal can actually kill you. Seek out medical care for a safe withdrawal.

Seizures are a serious subject, no matter what brings them on. If your doctor suggested that it was the drinking, I would stop immediately. Having said that, if you are drinking enough to induce seizures chances are you will have an extremely hard time stopping. DTs are no joke. I have seen people have some serious psychotic episodes while in DTs. You may want to check out some local short term rehabs/detox centers. I would highly advise against quitting cold turkey without being in a hospital or around healthcare professionals. The main thing now is that you STOP DRINKING COMPLETELY. If drinking is inducing seizures chances are it will happen with a broad range of alcohol consumption, not just the times you get shit faced hammered. In your OP you stated you have been more inebriated than you have when you had the seizure, which is proof that any type of alcohol consumption can induce your seizures.

Something like this may have happened to me after a heavy night of drinking. During the ride back, my entire body froze numb and all my muscles began to tense up horribly. It was like a cramp throughout my entire body. Needless to say, I panicked. Good thing I wasn't the one driving. This subsided after I got home. Happened about 10 minutes into the ride back. It never happened again but I'm still unsure to this day as to what caused it. Probably dehydration.

I personally dont drink that much anymore, and never got siezures, but this guy I work with did. He started working where I do and we took him out to get drunk after work one night. The next day at work the dude flopped over and started siezing. Called ems etc. and when he came back to work the next week he explained he hadnt drank in years cuz the same thing happened to him the last time he drank.

The guy said he wasnt epileptic and he didnt have a drinking habit, the doctor just said that's the way his body responded to alcohol.

We never did take that guy out for beers again, that was some freaky shit.

I agree,
you might have epilepsy.
seizures after heavy drinking...sounds like it to me
i know 2 people with severe epilepsy and they agree
i doubt its withdrawl.
