Hi all,
I was thinking of posting this in 'Other Drugs' but one of the rules made me second guess this, though I'm not sure .
The list will be added to on a regular basis and is non-exhaustive. The following examples are all (not suited for OD):
But I am seeking clarification on a few things to try and prevent drugs from having a dangerous interaction and maybe finding out if any one has had a specifically bad experiences with this.
So, in the past I have occasionally take ritalin on occasion because it makes SUPER productive and focused. Not simply more alert, but actually excited about doing things that I normally consider a chore. I don't have ADHD and don't qualify for a prescription. I have never taken it as a regular thing. Like, the last time was around the end of June when I had the most amount of exams/assignments due. I never took more than 60mg in one day and never took more than 30mg at a time. A packet of 30 10mg tablets lasted me about 11 months.
Anyway, the person who was giving me her ritalin stopped taking it and now the prescription has expired. But recently I was abble to get dextroamphetamine. My intention was to test it out on Friday and also use it again today as I have a full afternoon/evening to work on assignments and I've just had a hectic week of being bombarded with things and struggling to concentrate. I have notice that the effects are somewhat different and I do prefer ritalin, but it is useful for what I need it for. I took 5mg earlier in the day, and 10mg late afternoon on Friday. I was able to get a lot done and the 'come down' I was warned about for dex wasn't too bad because I knew what was happening. Like I think after it wore off I felt moody for about 45 minutes and then went back to usual.
Anyway, I didn't take any yesterday. Last night we had some friends over. Between 9.30pm and midnight I had 2 drinks (30mL of vodka and 30mL of scotch). I'm not a huge drinker at all. I was intending to take 5- 10mg of dex at about 2pm this arvo I want to verify whether or not there was any chance of it interacting with alcohol and this being particularly bad. This might sound stupid but regardless of dosage I've always been overly cautious about having different chemicals in my body. Like I won't drink if I've had even a small amount of weed, for example.
I have a low BMI and have never had my BAC tested because I don't drive. According to this link, even if my BAC were ridiculously high (which it wasn't) it would be out of my system by then http://www.drinkfox.com/information/alcohol-metabolism
But most of the guides are based around whether or not it is legal to drive, and I don't know if there is any other way it can be in your body in a way that can interact with other drugs. There are some threads on the internet about this combination but it is mostly people who take it reguarly wondering if they can get drunk. I couldn't find this in the threads but if it exists somewhere please let me know and I'll delete this. I hate to be redundant. I find these things really useful in moderation for getting through occasional slumps in moderation, but these kinds of stimulants are incredibly new to me. I'm also aware that because it is not perscribed to me anything that happens is on me. But I'm wondering if anyone knows a bit more about alcohol absorbtion and also whether or not there are cases of alcohol interacting badly with other drugs after more than 12 hours in between.
Edit: Another reason I ask is because after having two drinks last night I noticed my heart beating a little faster (not quite like after taking dex) but I had just had a pretty huge meal and that sometimes happens to me after I eat something carb-heavy too fast and it went away in 1/2 hour. I have no heart problems I know about. I run 4km 3 times per week so I assumed if I had a heart problem I'd know about it by now?
