Albert Hofmann has passed away today

This is a truely sad day:(, but also one to remember.


Dr. Albert Hofmann... you are truely a remarkable man. Your work had graced this tiny rock with a chemical so profound, so incredible that it has inspired every emotion and feeling possible since its inception only 65 years ago. Much has change since then, except for you and your child. It is now our responsibility to take the knowledge you have graciously given us and build upon it, for we have much to learn.

For all of Bluelight, I would like to say thank you Dr. Albert Hofmann. You are a very beloved man, and will be missed greatly<3. I only ask that you give us advice and guide us from beyond as you have while alive.

first of all, who ever claimed lsd was an addictive deadly substance? most of the harms associated with it are thought to be psychological. secondly, there are people who smoke cigarettes who live to be over 100. does that mean cigarettes aren't addictive or deadly?

anyway, sounds like this guy had a great life and a great death.

anyone else think that if other researchers (timothy leary for example) had treated LSD with the same respect that hoffman did, it might be approved for medical use now?

There's a distinct possibility that would have been the case. But it would have been tightly controlled under the Medicines Acts of probably all countries in the Western world, and relatively few people would have probably got a whiff of it. Leary maybe was a loose cannon, but he got LSD on the map as far as "non-patients" go.

Remember that ALL recreational/spiritual use of "drugs" (apart from alcohol, cigarettes [and ayahuasca/mescaline by very small religious communities - who are still under seige]) is officially "abuse".
