Airport installs marijuana 'amnesty boxes'

Colorado Springs Airport recently installed three green metal containers in the terminal where travellers can deposit marijuana, which is legal to buy in Colorado but banned in the airport.

Sorry, but the airport is not taking job applications for pot container attendants.

With recreational marijuana now on sale in Colorado, Denver International and Colorado Springs airports have made it clear that travellers cannot bring pot through their facilities. Even medical marijuana is forbidden.

But the folks at the Colorado Springs airport, about 110 kilometres south of Denver, don't want travellers to dump bags of overlooked pot into the terminal trash bins. For that reason, the airport has installed "amnesty boxes."

A spokesman for the airport said the boxes will be monitored 24 hours a day, with Colorado Springs police responsible for emptying the boxes and destroying any drugs.

Colorado legalised recreational pot on New Year's Day, allowing it to be sold by licensed retailers.

The highly-anticipated opening launched an unprecedented commercial cannabis market that Colorado officials expected would ultimately gross US$578 million ($696 million) in annual revenues, including $US67 million in tax for the state.

"don't want travellers to dump bags of overlooked pot into the terminal trash bins." absolutely this would be a major security risk.. what would happen if that lady who lets her kid eat shit off the ground were around and he was now eating out of the garbage. this would be bad as the child would then have gotten a little buzzed twice. but its a trade off.. he would have gotten two free meals.

I really think that I have to declare that the world no longer has even an atom of common sense left when it come to the ability to just look the other way if a law is not applicable any more.

We just got word of a story that will break a year from now.. these containers will not be used once.. people will give away any grass they have left to new pot tourists who just arrived or leave it for the maid of their hotel room as a tip.. who the fuck just throws out perfectly good weed.

not like we are all going to forget the extended checks we did to every pocket of every bag to make sure there wasn't some snippen that would get us thrown in jail or money extorted.
 
Aren't airports covered by federal regulations? Can see why it's a potential sticky (icky icky) problem
 
your right we need a special committee in congress to address this major problem immediately.. after all we could have what problem.. oh yeah a bag of grass thrown into a garbage can8).. Wait they can't agree.. the republicans want a round basket and the democrats want a square one.. this could take a really long time to sort out.=D

Think of the garbage dump racoons.. we will have red eyed racoons. are we against the racoons. scrap legalization this is to hard.

Denver International Airport is still covered by Colorado law. It was legal to possess in the airport if you were over 21 years old until about a month ago when the city made a regulation that imposes a fine on anyone found with marijuana in the airport. Prior to this the only concern was getting busted by federal air marshals after the plane was in the air or customs/agricultural inspection at the destination airport.
 
Isn't Denver International that airport with all the spooky Illuminatii shit all over it?

fuck yeah and it scary.. there is a painting where there are people who are in coffins.. this is a huge painting and one of the people depicted is black, one of the other ones is jewish.. Im glad you asked how i know it was jewish.. because they have a jewish star clearly visible on their necklace.. I dont remember what nationality the other one is right now.. then there is a huge mural of a really graphic apocalypse scene and some other really strange things as well.. like out of the blue there will be a seal that is a free mason seal.. not making this up.. also there is the are sjit like there is a tunnel there where it is clear that the train is meant to go on past the last stop at some point but where is ends up going is right into the ground?? wtf is that.. also the fence around DIA is clearly meant to keep people in and not out of the airport and grounds.. Im not the biggest conspiracy person but as I have flown in and out of there dozens of times and keep coming up with this shit that is so weird and out of place.. I dont know what to think about it. Plus the fact that there is big military shit there.. I dont know it freaks me out sometimes., like it meant to be a damn concentration camp in the future.
